Job Description: (Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Florida)
Education: Bachelors degree in computer science Information Systems or other Information Technology major or equivalent work experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform technology and architecture upgrades (modernization) to ensure the stability of applications in the DEP portfolio.
- Provide maintenance enhancement and support for a variety of the agencys business applications.
- Assisting in the preparation and documentation of program requirements and specifications.
- Writing translating and coding software programs and applications per specifications.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines.
- Working with network administrators systems analysts and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with software products or company software systems.
- Providing mentoring and guidance to junior programmers.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- 10 years experience with MS Visual Studio focusing on Web Forms and Core.
- 4 years experience with MS SQL Server databases T/SQL database IDEs and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) with the capability to perform tuning develop complex queries and database objects including both DML and DDL.
- 4 years experience developing applications leveraging the React Javascript (library) framework.
- 4 years experience operating as a Full-stack developer
- Experience working in Cloud Server environments preferably Azure.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of architectural design patterns such as MVC.
- Knowledge of relational and object-oriented database designs.
- Knowledge of database security including role-based security.
- Knowledge of Information Systems Development Methodology (ISDM).
- Ability to be creative to use sound judgment and to display foresight to identify potential problems and design/specifications and assigned application software systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to determine work priorities and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines without sacrificing quality.
- Excellent interpersonal collaborative oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- MS certification(s) preferably MCSD or MCTS.
- Experience with C# and .
- Experience using code repositories preferably Git.
- Experience in web development leveraging XML and CSS.
- Experience with Unified Modeling Language (UML).
- Experience with environmental regulatory business processes and practices.
- Familiarity with Agile development specifically Scrum Extreme Programming (XP) and Kanban.
- Knowledge and understanding of DEPs technical environment.
