Qualifications: Minimum of a Bachelors degree DESE Certification in English as a Second Language (ESL) (Prek6) (5-12) Special Education Certification and experience working with ESL students who have disabilities is preferred.
Scope of Duties:
1. Provide individualized or small group English as a Second Language Instruction across SEEM Programs to English learner students with special needs in either a push-in pull-out or coteaching model.
2. Collaborate and communicate with the EL students content teacher(s) and specialist(s) to align instruction and support to both the EL students English language development and their classroom instructional needs (instructions vocabulary reading and writing support and clarification of assignments) and other forms of academic assistance.
3. Plan and deliver lessons utilizing the WIDA standards and deliver appropriate lessons for varying levels of English proficiency. Demonstrate cultural proficiency and use effective and culturally relevant instructional practices. Integrate technology into the classroom as an instructional tool and for personal productivity.
4. Demonstrate strong knowledge of World-class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) standards and assist teachers and staff members in implementation.
5. Administer language screeners and participate in identifying and assessing ELs (benchmarking) as needed.
6. Administer annual Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State to State (ACCESS) test for EL students in accordance with guidelines.
7. Prepare for and assist with organization of EL students reclassification meetings for those ready to transition out of EL services.
8. Through consultation and/or professional development provide guidance and support to SEEM staff around EL issues ranging from compliance to implementation of policy effective instructional practice etc.
9. Monitor progress of English learners through annual ACCESS assessment.
10. Maintain student records and communicate with families and districts.
11. Write English learner progress reports each trimester.
12. Attend student IEP meetings and consult with teachers on English learner needs related to IEP goals and objectives.
13. Organize the translation of forms reports memos letters etc. as needed by program principals
14. Other duties as assigned by the principals and/or Executive Director.
Must pass a background check including CORI and Fingerprints.
