Microbiology Associate Sample Prep Tech

• Learns to perform any combination of sample preparation tasks to ensure sample homogeneity which includes but is not limited to labeling transferring liquid nitrogen use milling blending weighing disposal of samples etc.
• Learns to communicate sample information.
• Communicates discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
• Learns to handle internal customer inquiries and requests.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of computers.
• 1 years of experience desired.
• Customer service skills including attention to detail accuracy confidentiality and communication skills.
• Ability to identify and communicate customer service needs.
• Ability to learn new tasks
• Ability to think critically and solve problems quickly and efficiently
• Reside within a commutable distance to Madison WI lab

Additional Information :

• Overtime and weekend work as required.
• Will be exposed to potential food allergens (ex. Milk tree nuts peanuts fish shellfish etc.).
• Physical requirements include but not are limited to standing bending reaching and lifting.  May work in walk-in cold storage units.
• Expected to understand the process for handling hazardous wastes and receive on-the-job training for handling specific waste types in their job area.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. for short periods of time.
• Work requires use of PPE (personal protective equipment).
• Mandatory immunizations and screening as required.
• Will be exposed to potential food allergens
