Skorpios is seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design and assembly of high precision components and tools in support of the manufacture of high-data rate optical networking products. The successful candidate will join our highly talented engineering team in Temecula Ca.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Design mechanical components and fixtures with very tight tolerances in support of sub-micron precision pick & place tools optical alignment tools and optical test sets.
Design and build components fixtures and test stations in test requiring precision temperature control
Mechanical design targeting highly constrained size and weight components
Create detailed 3D drawings of high precision components in SolidWorks that enhance capabilities of existing manufacturing test and burn-in tools
Recommend materials selection for the machined parts
Rapid creation of prototype parts
Mechanical assembly and prove-in of new fixtures and tools
Collaborate with local and overseas machine shops for parts fabrication
Requirements
Education:
Bachelors or higher degree in mechanical engineering
Experience:
Minimum 10 years of experience designing & testing high precision fixtures and tools
5 years of experience in SolidWorks
Familiar with fiber optics products and working with optical fibers
Experience in sub-micron optical alignment of lasers and fibers
Experience with wide range of epoxies
Thorough understanding of materials and their effects on component performance
This is a lead role and requires someone who is highly motivated and a team-player. Must be able to share knowledge work collaboratively and support other groups within the organization
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated track of record.
Able to work hard in a dynamic start-up environment.
Capable of delivering on aggressive goals/timelines.
Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
