Job Summary
Position Summary
The Math Instructor provides instruction in Math courses through classroom laboratory dual enrollment and distance-learning settings across multiple campuses and schedules. This position supports student success through effective instruction assessment of learning outcomes student advising and participation in departmental institutional and community college initiatives. This role reports directly to the Division Chair of Math.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: - Instruct Math and Computer Science (preferred) courses.
- Conduct instruction in a wide variety of settings and time frames to include: on-site dual enrollment as well as day evening and weekends on any of Gadsden States campuses. Some traveling may be required.
- Present appropriate and effective classroom and laboratory learning experiences to students in a classroom lab or distance-learning format including computer delivery.
- Assist in the planning for instruction: prepare course materials objectives syllabi and curriculum design.
- Participate in assessments at both the course and program levels.
- Organize and maintain instructional equipment as required.
- Assist students out of class in their quest to master information presented.
- Incorporate various teaching methods such as the use of technology-based instruction critical thinking activities and active learning techniques in all courses.
- Post and maintain regular office hours.
- Assist in support of adjunct instructors.
- Assist in course scheduling process as needed.
- Serve on committees.
- Attend meetings training sessions College events and graduation.
- Serve as faculty advisor to an assigned group of students.
- Serve as faculty sponsor to student organizations as assigned.
- Pursue continued professional development.
- Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System and the College.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE STANDARDS AND TRAINING:
- Masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Mathfrom an approved U.S. Department of Education accredited institutionrequiredwith18 graduate semester hours in Computer Science preferred
Appropriate credentials for the teaching field as per SACS Criteria 3.7 Faculty and the Faculty Credentials Guidelines and Board Policy 605.02.
