What will the work look like for me

We are seeking a results-driven Materials Process Owner to lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of our material management processes manufacturing bills of materials (BOMs) inventory automation and warehouse management systems (WMS).

This role is ideal for manufacturing engineers materials managers or supply chain professionals who combine a strong understanding of manufacturing operations with systems thinking process optimization and data-driven decision-making.

The successful candidate will help bridge the gap between engineering production materials warehousing and information systems to build scalable accurate and efficient material flow processes. This individual will identify opportunities to automate manual workflows improve inventory visibility and accuracy optimize manufacturing BOM structures and leverage technology to improve operational performance.

Areas of Focus

• Develop the ability to act as an internal consultant in the areas of Subject Matter Expertise specifically by leading projects and mentoring other project team members.
• Manage large-scope projects either in-place in a focused factory or to impact multiple factories.
• Break down projects into manageable pieces and effectively delegate them to others.
• Consistently provide Customer Focus by communicating via first-person methods (in person or via phone) and by going to where the work is done (Gemba).

Developing and Sharing Technical Expertise:

• Build expertise through documentation hands-on use external training and technical publications. Actively seek knowledge through other methods as necessary including suppliers vendors or internal contacts.
• Consistently support escalations with the appropriate urgency as they arise.
• Consistently champion for safe stable and documented manufacturing processes.

Cross-Factory Collaboration:

• Foster and lead collaboration between all factories.
• Create a plan for success through regular multi-factory meetings.
• Recognize relevant agenda items.
• Prep for and lead monthly meetings.
• Capture action items and assign appropriate resources.

General Expectations:

• Effectively work in a team environment and build collaborative relationships.
• Demonstrate ability to recognize and capitalize on improvement opportunities.
• Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution and leading through influence.
• Travel to customer factories approximately monthly. Travel multiple times per year to perform benchmarking or attend trade shows to develop and maintain technical expertise.

Where is this opportunity located

The preferred work location is Brookings work opportunities may be considered with travel to Brookings corporate office as needed.

Some travel will be required to our manufacturing locations in Sioux Falls SD; Redwood Falls MN Shanghai China; and Saltillo Mexico due to project demands.

To be considered for Materials Process Owner we require the following:

• Bachelors degree in manufacturing engineering industrial engineering supply chain management operations management or a related field.
• Three (3) years experience in manufacturing engineering materials management inventory control production planning warehouse operations or manufacturing systems.
• Demonstrated experience improving material management processes inventory accuracy BOM structures or warehouse operations.
• Experience working with ERP systems manufacturing BOMS warehouse management software or inventory management platforms.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and process improvement skills with the ability to translate operational challenges into practical system and process solutions
• Ability to work effectively across engineering production supply chain warehouse operations and IT.
• Strong organizational project management communication and change management skills.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing continuous improvement and operational excellence methodologies
• Proficiency in Excel reporting tools data analysis or business intelligence planforms
• Experience leading cross-functional projects involving manufacturing processes software systems and operational change.
• Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
• The selected individual must be able to travel by air and ground and comply with the Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy to begin and maintain employment. This requirement will be verified through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check conducted in accordance with applicable federal state provincial and local laws.
• Fluent in English written and verbal.
• Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
