Job Description:

This Manufacturing Technician willperform electronic and mechanical assembly functions using work instructions MSE direction and print specifications. Tasks may require fiber optic splicing potting mechanical and electronic components Hi-Pot testing may include soldering of electrical and electronic assemblies.

Essential Functions:

  • Electro-optic cableterminations and jointing sub-surface communications cable management and electronics assembly.
  • Perform coarse and fine adjustments requiring the use of hand tools precision measuring devices and other specialized equipment including but not limited to vacuum equipment digital indicators optical microscopes height gages Vernier gages micrometers and electronic testing fixtures.
  • Seeking an individual contributor to provide skilled support on the assembly of potting electro-mechanical and fiber optic assemblies.
  • Handle inspect clean and prepare delicate and sensitive optical components and assemblies.
  • Familiar with the function of and use a broad range of electrical/electronic and mechanical parts and components such as fiber optics solder wire resistors diodes capacitors relays transformers coils switches PC boards epoxies crimping etc.
  • Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Work with adhesives precision assembly tools and different types of equipment such as fusion splicers high precision fiber cleavers polishing machines and test tools.
  • Guide coach and mentor less experienced team members; be a positive role model for the team.
  • Participates in program or functional team projects developing process improvement methods solutions and procedures to enhance program quality cost and scheduling.
  • Assist with implementing and sustaining the 5S1 program to ensure that work areas and equipment are maintained in a clean and orderly condition and all safety regulations are observed; report and correct any unsafe work practices or conditions immediately to supervisor or EH&S.
  • Attend daily departmental GEMBA meetings updating board contents following up with acting and measuring effectiveness also performance.
  • Assists in determining the need for tooling testing tooling testing equipment and making recommendations for the design and planning of required tools and equipment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time ability to lift up-to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.
  • Occassional travel <25% possible.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma with Technical School Training or equivalent a plus work experience required with minimum of 6 years of experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with sub-surface communication optical cable potting fiber optics electro-mechanical assemblies.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with fiber handling and splicing.
  • Knowledge and the ability to read and interpret prints and schematics.
  • Strong communication skills (written verbal presentation).

In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in Colorado State Hawaii Illinois Maryland Minnesota Vermont and New York State is $49K-$91K. For California New Jersey Massachusetts Washington D.C. Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area the city of Denver Washington State and New York City the salary range for this role is $57-$106K. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
