Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies as may be required regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Should you accept this position it is anticipated that following conclusion of the transaction you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes programs policies and benefit that case details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Purpose:

The Manager R&D PMO will lead the project management function supporting the Sports Surgical and Shoulder Reconstruction teams. The primary purpose of this role is to manage and develop project managers coordinate R&D and cross-functional resourcing help establish and manage the portfolio budget and support disciplined execution of multiyear pipeline planning activities across both growth platforms.

This leader will partner closely with R&D leadership project managers functional managers and business partners to ensure the right people funding priorities and execution plans are in place to deliver the Sports Surgical and Shoulder Reconstruction portfolios. The role is accountable for building PMO discipline improving visibility to resource needs and constraints supporting budget planning and management and enabling long-range portfolio planning that connects near-term project execution with future pipeline growth.

You will be responsible for:

In accordance with all applicable federal state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson procedures and guidelines this position:

  • Lead coach and develop a team of project managers supporting the Sports Surgical and Shoulder Reconstruction portfolios including performance management capability building and prioritization of PMO work.
  • Coordinate R&D and cross-functional resourcing across active projects lifecycle initiatives and future pipeline opportunities; identify constraints escalate gaps and partner with functional leaders to support informed trade-off decisions.
  • Help establish manage and communicate portfolio budgets including resource assumptions prototype and supplier needs project expenses and budget risks across both growth platforms.
  • Lead multiyear pipeline planning activities for Sports Surgical and Shoulder Reconstruction by integrating project roadmaps resource plans budget requirements strategic priorities and leadership decision points.
  • Drive PMO operating discipline including portfolio reviews stage-gate readiness schedule performance risk management decision tracking and timely communication of business-related issues and opportunities.
  • Partner with R&D marketing clinical regulatory quality supply chain manufacturing finance and other stakeholders to align execution plans with portfolio priorities and commercialization needs.
  • Provide project management subject matter expertise mentorship and best-practice guidance to project managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure personal team and Company compliance with applicable Federal State local Company Health Safety Environmental and quality system requirements; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years work experience is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years project management experience in medical device or other similarly regulated industry.
  • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint SharePoint Project Teams etc.) is required.
  • Ability to create and manage project and program budgets within guidelines.
  • A successful track record of leading and working within a cross-functional teams is required.
  • Demonstrated exceptional problem-solving ability is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and apply project management skills which result in meeting project/program goals and objectives is required
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a varied workload is required.
  • Ability to effectively utilize verbal written and presentation skills is required.
  • Demonstrated success leading medical device projects from concept through market introduction preferably in orthopaedics sports medicine extremities shoulder reconstruction or related implant/instrumentation platforms is required.
  • Ability to ensure compliance to FDA MDR etc. to design control regulations is required.
  • Experience engaging surgeon advisors design surgeons or external clinical stakeholders to inform product requirements development priorities and commercialization readiness is preferred.
  • Ability to build effective interdependent partnering relationships is required.
  • Ability to effectively use negotiation and conflict resolution skills is required.
  • Ability to develop leadership capabilities and negotiation skills as well as the ability to effectively assimilate and communicate complex information from multiple sources. Ability to recognize and lead the resolution of project issues and roadblocks is required.
  • Ability to model and integrate the Standards of Leadership into all business practices and activities.
  • Additional training in either PMI Six Sigma or Product Development processes desired.
  • Proficiency utilizing project lifecycle management (PLM) software is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) preferred.
  • Up to 10% business travel may be required.
The Company maintains highly competitive performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporations performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Companys discretion on an individual basis.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
