Description

Westmoreland Community Action (WCA) is seeking a full-time Maintenance/Janitorial Specialist that will primary be located at our office in Latrobe PA but will also occasionally be assigned to other WCA locations throughout Westmoreland County. As a Maintenance/Janitorial Specialist you will oversee the maintenance of Westmoreland Community Action buildings equipment and furniture as well as leased properties. You will accomplish this by:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the maintenance of Westmoreland Community Action buildings equipment and furniture as well as leased properties. This includes personally conducting maintenance on plumbing heating electrical and other systems and equipment including motor vehicles as well as supporting the routine cleaning of the agency facilities


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain plumbing heating electrical lighting and other building equipment.
  • Maintain Agencys vehicles and lawn equipment etc. Schedule maintenance when needed. Respond to breakdowns to assist staff.
  • Maintain all WCA facilities including buildings lots and grounds.
  • Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles including passenger vehicles work vans and non-CDL trucks.
  • Ability to operate electrical plumbing and carpentry tools including power tools.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply divide and calculate decimals and percents.
  • Ability to work effectively in both an outdoor under varying weather conditions and indoor environment.
  • Perform general building maintenance as required: open clogged sinks drains and toilets and perform other plumbing repairs; change light bulbs and repairs light fixtures & Receptacles; paint rooms and other areas; replace tiles bricks etc.; maintain smoke detectors and fire alarm system. Repair removal or replacement pumps and motors; assist in the installation of conduit and pulling wire.
  • Perform repairs such as dry wall patching replacing plumbing fixtures tile/backsplash repair and painting.
  • Perform and manage minor building renovations such as replacing windows drywall framing non-load bearing walls and installing/replacing doors. Assistance with anything above 1st floor applications.
  • Perform general grounds maintenance as required; clear snow from sidewalks and other areas cut grass rake leaves maintain roads etc.
  • Perform routine cleaning of restrooms hallways common areas etc.
  • Maintain supplies such as paper products and cleaning materials
  • Remove trash sweep/mop/vacuum and sanitize floors and surfaces and high touch areas
  • Ability to make informed recommendations to senior staff on maintenance and repair issues.
  • Follow all agency safety procedures licensing standards
  • Ensure proper use and storage of all cleaning chemicals
  • Maintain a safe environment for children families and staff
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of documents including worker orders boiler charts boiler readings maintenance manuals blueprints instructions manuals etc.
  • Ability to record and deliver information explain procedures and follow instructions.
  • Travel between program sites as needed
  • Any and all other duties as assigned by your supervisor.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Technical training maintenance experience or any combination of training and experience that provide equivalent knowledge skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to provide or able to obtain Act 33 34 and 114 clearances.
  • Must possess a valid PA drivers license $15000/$30000 bodily liability auto insurance and reasonably clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work on call.
  • Ability to add subtract multiply divide and calculate decimals and percentages.
  • Ability to operate electrical plumbing and carpentry tools including power tools.
  • Ability to operate a variety of motor vehicles including passenger vehicles work vans and non-CDL trucks.
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret a variety of documents including steam flow charts plumbing schematics fire and smoke detector zone charts equipment manuals etc.
  • Ability to make informed recommendations to senior staff on bid selection maintenance and repair issues.
  • Ability to oversee a variety of sub-contractors to ensure successful on-budget repairs and maintenance services.
  • Must be willing and able to use the agency vehicles to travel to sites for maintenance requests.

REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO SAFELY PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION OF Maintenance/Janitorial Specialist:

Physical requirements - Push/pull lift/move up to 75 pounds.

Manual dexterity - Perform moderately difficult tasks able to lift push and carry.

Coordination - Perform tasks which require foot and/or hand/eye coordination - driving a car.

Mobility - walk stand bend stoop for long periods of time drive.

Speech - Able to articulate with other employees and management.

Vision - Read print drive a car.

Hearing - Ability to communicate with employees and management.

Concentration - able to concentrate on task with some interruption.

Attention span - Able to attend to task function for more that 60 minutes.

Conceptualization - Able to understand and relate tasks given.

Memory - Able to remember multiple verbal and written task assignments given at beginning of a period extending over long period of time.

Environment Conditions - Indoor work/Outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Salary Description
$23.01 to $25.76 per hour
