Job Summary

MalaceHR is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and repair operations of a portfolio of off-campus apartment communities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in general building maintenance and be capable of independently performing a wide variety of repairs preventative maintenance tasks and resident service requests.

This position requires hands-on experience across multiple trades including carpentry plumbing electrical HVAC and appliance repair. The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in maintaining safe functional and attractive living environments for residents while delivering exceptional customer service.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance inspections and repairs throughout apartment units and common areas.
  • Troubleshoot and repair residential plumbing systems including faucets toilets sinks drains and water lines.
  • Perform basic electrical repairs including outlets switches lighting fixtures and circuit troubleshooting.
  • Conduct HVAC maintenance and minor repairs on heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair household appliances including refrigerators ovens dishwashers washers and dryers.
  • Complete carpentry work such as door repairs drywall patching trim installation cabinet repairs and painting.
  • Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and emergency service calls.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently.
  • Assist with apartment turnovers including repairs inspections and preparation for new residents.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations company policies and local building codes.
  • Maintain tools equipment and work areas in a clean and organized manner.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in apartment residential commercial or facilities environments preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry plumbing electrical HVAC and appliance repair.
  • Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities including climbing ladders kneeling bending and working in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA Section 608 Certification preferred but not required.
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in multifamily housing or student housing environments.
  • Familiarity with work order management systems and preventative maintenance programs.
