MalaceHR is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and repair operations of a portfolio of off-campus apartment communities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in general building maintenance and be capable of independently performing a wide variety of repairs preventative maintenance tasks and resident service requests.
This position requires hands-on experience across multiple trades including carpentry plumbing electrical HVAC and appliance repair. The Maintenance Technician will play a key role in maintaining safe functional and attractive living environments for residents while delivering exceptional customer service.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance inspections and repairs throughout apartment units and common areas.
Troubleshoot and repair residential plumbing systems including faucets toilets sinks drains and water lines.
Perform basic electrical repairs including outlets switches lighting fixtures and circuit troubleshooting.
Conduct HVAC maintenance and minor repairs on heating ventilation and air conditioning equipment.
Diagnose and repair household appliances including refrigerators ovens dishwashers washers and dryers.
Complete carpentry work such as door repairs drywall patching trim installation cabinet repairs and painting.
Respond promptly to resident maintenance requests and emergency service calls.
Perform preventative maintenance to ensure building systems operate efficiently.
Assist with apartment turnovers including repairs inspections and preparation for new residents.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations company policies and local building codes.
Maintain tools equipment and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in apartment residential commercial or facilities environments preferred.
Strong working knowledge of carpentry plumbing electrical HVAC and appliance repair.
Ability to diagnose maintenance issues and implement effective solutions.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation preferred.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical maintenance activities including climbing ladders kneeling bending and working in various weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
EPA Section 608 Certification preferred but not required.
Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification preferred but not required.
Experience working in multifamily housing or student housing environments.
Familiarity with work order management systems and preventative maintenance programs.
