Job Summary
As a Machining Operator youll help keep daily manufacturing operations running safely and predictably by producing parts that meet specification and by supporting consistent shop-floor execution. Youll join Schenck a Coperion brand part of Hillenbrand in Sabetha Kansas where we support industrial manufacturing through disciplined production and continuous improvement. WHAT YOULL DO:
Operate manual semi-automated and automated machining equipment by following standard work and documented instructions to produce components that meet defined specifications.
Complete basic machine setup tasks youre trained on by confirming correct configuration tooling and readiness before production starts to reduce scrap and downtime.
Inspect finished parts using measurement tools such as calipers and gauges by recording results and verifying conformance to specifications to support quality and traceability.
Identify defects and separate nonconforming material by labeling documenting and escalating concerns through defined procedures to prevent quality escapes.
Monitor equipment performance during runs by watching for abnormal operation drift or malfunctions and reporting issues promptly to protect safety quality and throughput.
Perform routine cleaning lubrication and basic preventive maintenance tasks by following site practices and documenting completed work to support reliable operation.
Maintain an organized safe work area by completing 5S and housekeeping tasks and by moving or staging materials using proper handling methods to support production flow.
TEAM:
Youll work closely with operators leads quality and maintenance partners to share clear updates resolve issues quickly and support smooth shift handoffs. Youll contribute to a respectful inclusive environment where different perspectives are valued and where disciplined execution supports Coperion and Hillenbrands long-term success.
THE EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED:
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to do hands-on repetitive work on a shop floor while staying focused on safety and quality.
Ability to follow written work instructions and standard procedures including required paperwork or production tracking.
Basic math skills for counting measuring and recording accurate numbers.
Ability to learn and use measuring tools like calipers and gauges to check part dimensions.
Mechanical awareness to notice when a machine doesnt sound or run right pause work when needed and report concerns.
Ability to complete routine cleaning and basic preventive tasks as trained including housekeeping and 5S.
Dependable attendance and clear communication so you can work well with others and support daily production schedules.
