Job Summary
As a LSS Software Engineering Co-op you will contribute to the development and maintenance of software used in life-support medical devices and the test tools used to develop and validate those products. Working with experienced engineers managers and mentors you will participate in meaningful projects that provide real-world software development experience in a regulated medical device environment.
- Develop and maintain real-time and non-real-time software applications using C.
- Support development of embedded software running on production hardware platforms.
- Design develop and maintain software test tools used to verify product functionality and performance.
- Participate in software design implementation testing debugging and documentation activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to solve technical challenges.
- Gain hands-on experience with anesthesia and respiratory care products including anesthesia systems and vaporizers.
- Work independently and as part of a team to deliver project objectives.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrated programming experience in one or more languages such as C Python or C#.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Proven leadership experience through academic extracurricular or professional activities.
- Available to work for a minimum of 28 weeks.
- Willingness to relocate to Madison WI for the duration of the co-op.
- Previous internship co-op research or project experience in software engineering computer engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience developing software for embedded systems.
- Experience debugging software on real hardware targets.
- Familiarity with software development tools build environments and debugging techniques.
- Demonstrated passion for technology and engineering.
- Strong analytical approach to solving complex technical problems.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated leadership teamwork and community involvement.
