Long Term Substitute School Nurse

Position Title: School Nurse - Substitute

Reports to: Building Administrator/Director of Health Safety and Security

Job Description:

Oxford Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team as a Long Term Substitute School Nurse beginning in FEBRUARY 2027

Key Responsibilities: (list not all inclusive)

• The ability to assess and evaluate the health status of each student in order to make a nursing diagnosis and establish a health plan.
• The ability to interpret the health status and medical findings to the student parent and staff responsible for the child.
• The ability to recommend to the administration modifications in the educational program for a student due to changes in the students health or medical status.
• Excellent communication skills to serve as liaison between the parents school and community in health matters.
• Knowledge of and experience in performing health screenings
• The ability to observe students as needed to detect health problems/issues.
• Excellent organizational skills needed to maintain cumulative health records on all students.
• The ability to assume responsibility to render emergency care to a student or staff member when injured or ill.
• The ability to review and recommend revisions in school nursing policies and procedures.
• Any other related duties as assigned by the administration

Qualifications:

• Must be an RN.
• Currently licensed by the State of Connecticut Department of Health.
• Current certification in CPR
