Log Yard Equipment Operator

Weyerhaeusers log yard facility in Cottageville South Carolina has an opening for an Equipment Operator. This position will serve as a member of the flow-to-work log yard team operating various pieces of log handling equipment participating in various log yard activities and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.

This is a full-time hourly day shift position reporting to the Yard Supervisor. Benefits include medical dental vision 401k plans vacation and holidays.

Key Functions:

• Safely and competently operate all the equipment associated with a log yard; knuckle boom front end loader yard truck ag tractors etc.
• Perform basic equipment and facility maintenance
• Recognize log sorts and place them in the appropriate inventory storage
• Collaborate with team members as well as work independently
• Contribute positively within a highly efficient and safe work team
• Adapt to job assignment changes and flow to work as needed
• Perform overtime duties when needed to meet customer demands

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One to two years experience operating log handling equipment
• Valid drivers license
• Demonstrated adherence to safety practices
• Solid work history including work in an industrial environment
• Strong communication and listening skills
• Successful completion of pre-employment background check and drug screen

Preferred:

• Experience and knowledge of log sorts putting logs in and out of storage decks unloading and loading log trucks driving semi-trucks
