Litigation Associate

Join a mid-sized regional law firms litigation team handling legal malpractice defense and complex business disputes. You will take on substantive case responsibility and build direct client relationships in a collegial partnership-track environment.

• Defend attorneys and law firms in professional liability and legal malpractice matters.
• Litigate business disputes involving contracts trade secrets partnerships and related claims.
• Manage cases through discovery depositions motion practice and trial preparation.
• Take and defend depositions of fact witnesses opposing parties and experts.
• Draft and argue dispositive motions including summary judgment motions demurrers and motions in limine.
• Conduct legal research develop case strategy and prepare pleadings discovery and other legal documents.
• Participate in mediations settlement negotiations hearings and trials.
• Communicate directly with clients provide updates and manage expectations.

• Four to six years of California litigation experience focused on legal malpractice defense and/or business litigation.
• Active California State Bar membership and a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Experience independently managing cases taking and defending depositions and preparing for trial.
• Experience drafting dispositive motions and strong knowledge of the California Code of Civil Procedure and Evidence Code.
• Strong client communication skills and interest in building a long-term career at a mid-sized regional firm.
• Litigation courtroom experience and authorization to work without employer sponsorship.

Base salary: $175000 to $225000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.

On-site in San Jose California with offices also available in San Mateo and Pleasanton. Candidates should be based in or willing to relocate to the San Francisco Bay Area.
