The Lecturer and Director of Forensics serves a dual role as a full-time instructional faculty member and head coach of the Prairie View A&M University Speech and Debate Team addressing critical enrollment demands across core communication curriculum courses while developing and leading a competitive intercollegiate forensics program that cultivates critical thinking public advocacy and oral communication excellence. This position directly aligns with the Department of Languages and Communications commitment to meeting sustained instructional need and expanding co-curricular opportunities while advancing Prairie View A&M Universitys mission to provide transformative accessible and high-quality education by equipping students with the rhetorical skills intellectual discipline and competitive experience necessary for success in professional civic and academic arenas.
The successful candidate may be appointed at the rank of Lecturer I Lecturer II or Lecturer III based on qualifications experience and University guidelines. Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the rank at which they are appointed. Final rank will be determined at the time of hire.
The salary isdeterminedin accordance withthe Universitys compensation structure and will becommensuratewith the candidates education and experience within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
- Teach five (5) Communications courses COMM 1311 and other Communication courses in the instructors field of specialization.
- Lead the PVAMU Speech and Debate team.
- Hold office hours and mentor students.
- Participate in assessment and departmental committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- MA or MFA in Communication.
- One year of teaching experience.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Ph.D. in Communication
- Three years of teaching experience.
