Job Description:
Under general direction the LeadMaterial & Process Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating an in-depth understanding and application of principles concepts and practices for energetic compositions processing and testing. The qualified employee works in the area of new technology to advance energetic applications develops innovative approaches and testing and communicates findings as part of an integrated product team.
Essential Functions:
- Provides safe thorough and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of chemical analysis techniques
- Has full technical responsibility for planning organizing and conducting technical projects involving energetic materials within a broad range of chemical tests analyses or syntheses
- Conducts independent investigations involving the application of advanced principles of chemistry
- Performs testing using advanced methods and analytical instrumentation
- Consolidates results and prepares findings and recommendation documents
- Travel requirements with up to 5% of travel expected
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in the physical sciences (Chemistry Physics Materials) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant Energetics and Propulsionexperience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong skills in mathematics
- Experience in the use of multi-physics programs such as Comsol is a plus
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics desired
