Job Summary
- Facilitate clear and accurate communication between English speakers and speakers of your target language.
- Interpret conversations without additions omissions or changes to the speakers intended meaning.
- Preserve the meaning tone and intent of the original communication.
- Maintain professionalism confidentiality and applicable interpreting standards.
- Communicate proactively about any circumstances that may affect an assignment.
- Professional proficiency in English and your target language.
- Demonstrated experience in paid or volunteer interpreting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid government-issued identification.
- Reliable access to the Internet and a mobile phone.
- Ability to commute to assignment locations when accepting on-site work.
- Ability to provide professional references related to your interpreting experience.
- Interpreter certification or professional interpreter training.
- Language proficiency or interpreter assessment results.
- Relevant interpreting certificates or diplomas.
- Additional professional interpreting experience or credentials.
- Interpreters of all languages and backgrounds who meet the core qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Required Skills:
Requirements: - Must be at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. - Native fluency in English and Spanish. - Prior interpreting experience and knowledge of medical terminology. - Completion of a 40-hour accredited interpreter training (e.g. Bridging the Gap The Community Interpreter training). - Reliable transportation insurance and access to a mobile phone and computer. - Up-to-date immunization records and ability to pass a criminal background check. National Certification (CCHI/CMI or NBCMI) is desired but not required.
