Laboratory Assistant

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Buffalo NY.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 1st shift

Job Summary:

This role supports high-complexity Next-Generation Sequencing to help inform patient care. The position plays a key role in the daily operations of our molecular and histology laboratories directly supporting the pre-analytical accessioning and support services candidate willdemonstratestrong organizational skills be proactive learn new skills quickly and be comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

Job Responsibilities:

• Organize pack and ship patient samples for offsite testingutilizingthe LIMS system to generate manifests and track shipments
• Process patient Sample returns upon completion of testing
• Assistwith unpacking andorganizingofdaily shipments of patient samples
• File or disposepatient slidesin accordance withlab protocols
• Retrieve Unstained slides from storage toassistthe support services and pathology teams as needed
• Receive package deliveries and notifyappropriate teams
• Monitorshippingsupply inventory andassistwith ordering as needed
• Learn and support quality processes andprocedures
• Perform backup accessioning duties as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements:

• Previousmedical/lab or production experience

Additional Job Standards:

• Comfortability with handling biological specimens
• Ability to accuratelyidentifyspecimens
• Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills
• High levelof attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet established turn-around times
• Strong communicationskills; both written and verbal
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
• Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Pay Range: $19 - 23/hr

All job offers will bebased on a candidates skills and prior relevant experience applicabledegrees/certificationsas well as internal equity and market data.
