Java API Lead

Job Title: Java API Lead
Location: Charlotte NC (3 Days Onsite per Week)
Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract

We are seeking an experienced Java API Lead to lead the design development and delivery of scalable API and microservices-based applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Java technologies cloud platforms API development and team leadership along with the ability to work directly with clients and coordinate onsite-offshore delivery teams.

• 8 years of hands-on experience in Java development with at least 2 years in a Lead role.
• Strong expertise in Java (8) Spring Boot and REST API development.
• Extensive experience with Microservices Architecture and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of Databases (Oracle/PostgreSQL) and JPA/Hibernate.
• Experience designing developing and integrating enterprise-grade APIs.
• Exposure to Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure) and modern cloud-native development practices.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Docker Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
• Strong understanding of API integrations security and performance optimization.
• Experience with Git Jenkins Maven Gradle and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of SDLC Agile/Scrum methodologies and release management processes.
• Ability to conduct code reviews and mentor development teams.
• Experience supporting estimation planning and release management activities.

• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
• Experience working in onsite-offshore delivery models.
• Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders architects and development teams.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving project deliverables to completion.

• Experience in Banking Financial Services Insurance or other large enterprise environments.
• Experience with API Gateway OAuth 2.0 JWT OpenAPI/Swagger and API Management platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka RabbitMQ or event-driven architectures.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform CloudFormation).
• AWS Azure or Java-related certifications are a plus.

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering or a related field.
• Masters degree preferred.
