JOB DESCRIPTION:

School-Based Therapist Intern (Unpaid) August 2026 Start

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Centerstone is seeking final-year masters students for an unpaid School-Based Therapist Internship beginning August 2026 for the academic year.

This internship provides graduate students with the opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience delivering behavioral health services to children and adolescents in a school-based setting. Under the supervision of licensed clinicians interns will provide individual family and group therapy while developing skills in assessment treatment planning clinical documentation crisis intervention and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This internship is intended for students completing the final year of an eligible masters degree program whose graduate program requires an internship or field placement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide individual family and group therapy services under appropriate clinical supervision.
• Support children and adolescents experiencing behavioral emotional social and academic challenges.
• Complete biopsychosocial assessments and assist with the development and ongoing implementation of individualized treatment plans.
• Maintain timely accurate and compliant clinical documentation.
• Collaborate with families school personnel supervisors and interdisciplinary treatment team members to coordinate care.
• Participate in individual supervision group supervision team meetings trainings and other professional development opportunities.
• Maintain professional boundaries while adhering to Centerstone policies ethical standards confidentiality requirements and applicable school-based practices.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in person and through virtual platforms.
• Interest in providing behavioral health services to children and adolescents within a school-based environment.
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with students families school staff supervisors and multidisciplinary team members.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage documentation deadlines.
• Willingness to receive supervision incorporate feedback and engage in continuous professional growth.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Bachelors degree required.
• Currently enrolled and in good standing as a final-year masters student in an accredited program in:
  • Clinical Mental Health Counseling
  • Professional Counseling
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Social Work
  • Psychology
  • Or another closely related behavioral health field
• The students academic program must require or approve an internship or field placement.

Experience

• Previous experience in behavioral health education social services or working with children and adolescents is preferred but not required.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

• Unpaid internship
• Start Date: August 2026
• Internship runs throughout the academic year in accordance with the students graduate program requirements.
• Open to final-year masters students completing required clinical internship hours.
• School-based clinical placement serving children and adolescents.
• Internship schedule must meet both Centerstone operational needs and the field placement requirements established by the students graduate program.
