Job Summary
Position Summary:
The Data Analyst at Adams State University supports the Office of Institutional Effectiveness by collecting analyzing and reporting data that informs decision-making across the university. Reporting to the Senior Institutional Researcher the Data Analyst will work with various departments to provide data-driven insights related to enrollment student success institutional performance and accreditation. The role involves conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis and presenting results to partners to facilitate strategic planning and policy development.Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)
- Data Collection and Management
- Support the development of Custom Reports and Integrations in Workday Student Information System Finance and Human Capital Management.
- Gather clean and organize data from internal and external sources to support institutional research and reporting needs.
- Develop and maintain databases and data systems to ensure accuracy and integrity of information.
- Assist with the design and implementation of data collection instruments (e.g. surveys questionnaires).
- Ability to balance multiple reports and requests at the same time based on institutional needs and reporting deadlines.
- Data Analysis
- Perform statistical analyses to identify trends patterns and insights from large datasets.
- Utilize software tools to conduct data analysis and visualize results.
- Support the development of predictive models related to student retention academic performance and enrollment projections.
- Communicate data in a digestible way to partners while developing their data literacy.
- Analyze and model the flow of Workday data across systems and functions to proactively identify and mitigate downstream impacts of process or data changes.
- Reporting and Presentation
- Prepare and present data reports dashboards and visualizations to support institutional decision-making.
- Assist in compiling data for external reporting (e.g. IPEDS accreditation state and federal compliance reports).
- Collaborate with the Senior Institutional Researcher and other departments to create actionable recommendations based on data findings.
- Collaboration and Support
- Support functional areas in the creation and editing of their own Custom Workday reports to meet their data needs.
- Work closely with academic departments administrative units and other university partners to gather requirements and provide data support for projects and initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance to staff on the use and interpretation of data.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and federal regulations regarding data privacy and security.
- Demonstrate awareness of ones own cultural beliefs perspectives and privileges as a part of ones orientation toward leadership.
- Build a culture of collaboration teamwork and over-communication that fosters collaboration within and across department lines.
- Serve on committees as the data liaison and Institutional Research/Effectiveness representative.
- Willingness to learn new processes and problem-solve when barriers arise.
- Other duties as needed to support the success of the department.

- Bachelors degree in Data Analytics Statistics Mathematics Computer Science Social Sciences Information Systems Economics Engineering Business Administration (with a concentration in Analytics) or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex data findings into understandable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of data privacy standards and institutional research best practices.
- Demonstrated technology proficiency related to the needs of the position.
- Ability to treat others with respect civility and courtesy and to work honestly effectively and collegially with employees students and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Data Analytics Institutional Research or a related field.
- Experience working in higher education particularly in institutional research or assessment.
- Familiarity with student information systems preferable Workday and higher education reporting standards (e.g. IPEDS HLC).
- Knowledge in statistical analysis software (e.g. SPSS SAS R) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau Power BI).
- Experience with database management SQL and querying large datasets.
- Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and predictive modeling techniques.
- Experience with survey design and qualitative research methods.
- Demonstrated experience working with people of diverse backgrounds and underserved populations in higher education.
- Experience in higher education career services in a diverse and rural setting.

Salary and Benefits:
