Position Summary

Mitchell Technical College is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Institutional Effectiveness Coordinator to support strategic planning institutional assessment accreditation and data-informed decision-making across the College. This position plays a key role in advancing continuous improvement efforts and ensuring institutional effectiveness through the collection analysis interpretation and reporting of institutional data. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills project management abilities and a commitment to fostering a culture of assessment accountability and student success.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate institutional effectiveness and compliance initiatives including assessment planning and continuous improvement processes.
  • Support institutional accreditation activities reporting documentation and compliance efforts.
  • Collect analyze interpret and report institutional data related to student success enrollment retention completion and program outcomes.
  • Assist departments in developing measurable goals outcomes and assessment strategies.
  • Prepare institutional reports dashboards surveys and presentations for leadership faculty staff and external agencies.
  • Collaborate with academic and administrative departments to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Maintain institutional research and assessment records data integrity and reporting systems.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives and monitor progress toward institutional goals.
  • Coordinate and fulfill federal and state reporting requirements (including IPEDS and state-level compliance tracking).
  • Collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with the South Dakota State Board of Technical Education state agencies and peer technical colleges across the state.
  • Provide training and guidance related to assessment practices and institutional effectiveness processes.
  • Proactively monitor interpret and communicate changes in federal state and Higher Learning Commission (HLC) accreditation policies; analyze their potential impact on college operations and systematically update campus frameworks to ensure continuous compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission of Mitchell Technical College.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required; masters degree preferred.
  • Experience in institutional research compliance assessment accreditation data analysis and/or higher education administration preferred.
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex data clearly and effectively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of relational databases and table structure.
  • Working knowledge of Transact-Structure Query Language (T-SQL) or other database reporting languages desirable.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services Power BI or other data reporting systems desirable.
  • Familiarity and comfort with using modern Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data automation tools to streamline data cleaning research summaries or report generation while strictly adhering to data security and student privacy standards.
  • Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Absolute commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of institutional data.

Preferred Characteristics

  • Experience with accreditation standards and reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of higher education assessment methodologies and strategic planning practices.
  • Proven capability to work collaboratively across institutions and coordinate with state-level governing boards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across departments and organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success and institutional improvement.

Work Environment

  • Full-time on-campus position located in Mitchell South Dakota.
  • Standard business hours apply with occasional evening meetings or special events.
  • Minimal regional travel is required for state system meetings conferences or collaborative sessions with partner technical colleges.
