  • A vacancy exists for a Human Resources Specialist to work at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit in the Office of Human Resources. The Human Resources Specialist supports the Human Resources Department by supporting key employment processes throughout the employee lifecycle including recruitment support onboarding compliance personnel records administration and employee engagement initiatives. This position serves as a primary resource for ensuring that personnel documentation hiring requirements employee files and onboarding activities are completed accurately efficiently and in compliance with applicable laws regulations board policies and organizational procedures.

    Qualifications:

    1. Associates degree in a related field required. Bachelors degree in a related field preferred.
    2. 1-3 years of professionalhuman resources experience required. Prior experience in the educational or nonprofit setting strongly preferred.
    3. Expertise (includes one or more of the following):
      1. Professional approach to their work that includes very strong customer service skills.
      2. Strong technology skills including extensive use of Microsoft Office Google and Accounting/HRIS systems
      3. Specialized skills in area to be able to work autonomously as proven through work experience.
    4. Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources
    5. Strong organizational communication and customer service skills.
    6. Ability to work in a team environment and to work effectively with people.
    7. Ability to work under stress and with frequent interruptions.
    8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators and staff.
    9. Ability to schedule time to meet deadlines to communicate effectively and to read and analyze written and verbal information.
    10. Ability to work independently and make work-related decisions and exercise good judgement in prioritizing tasks.
    11. Ability to possess high standards of ethics and confidentiality.
    12. Original certificates of clearance from the State Police Child Abuse Registry and PDE FBI


    Duties & Responsibilities:

    1. Recruitment and Selection
      1. Conduct employment reference checks and facilitate Act 168 employment history reviews and related hiring compliance requirements.

      2. Assist with ensuring candidate selection processes follow established organizational procedures and legal requirements.

    2. New Hire Onboarding
      1. Create and maintain personnel files for newly hired employees.

      2. Coordinate and process new hire documentation employment forms clearances compliance requirements and personnel records.

      3. Enter and verify employee information in HR information systems and personnel databases.

      4. Facilitate new employee orientation programs and onboarding activities.

      5. Support onboarding processes to ensure employees are properly integrated into organizational systems and procedures.

    3. Personnel Records and Documentation
      1. Maintain employee personnel files and ensure records are complete secure and compliant with applicable regulations.

      2. Monitor personnel documentation for accuracy and completeness.

      3. Assist with HR document management records retention and file auditing activities.

      4. Support oversight and administration of HR technology systems including HRConnect and related personnel information systems.

    4. Employee Engagement and Communication
      1. Support employee engagement initiatives recognition activities and department-sponsored employee events

      2. Assist with planning and implementation of organization-wide employee programs and events including employee welcome activities and staff engagement initiatives.

      3. Prepare and distribute employee communications newsletters and informational materials.

    5. Compliance and Administrative Support
      1. Ensure hiring and onboarding activities comply with federal state and local regulations including employment-related compliance requirements.

      2. Assist with monitoring employee records for required documentation and compliance standards.

      3. Prepare reports correspondence and HR-related documentation as assigned.

      4. Collaborate with HR managers supervisors and department leaders to support departmental objectives and organizational initiatives.

    6. Other Duties
      1. Support internal and external audits by pulling documentation and testing selections; as well as recommending process improvements that might yield to improved audit findings.

      2. Serve as a back-up and support to other HR staff members.

      3. Assists in preparing ad hoc data reports to the Director and/or Assistant Director.

      4. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Human Resources.


    Location:
    The Montgomery County Intermediate Unit is located at 2 W. Lafayette St. Norristown PA 19401.

    Work Schedule:
    Monday - Friday 7 hours/day 12 months (260-262 days/year).

    Salary:
    $27.41/hour - $32.25/hour (PS2)
