Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for working closely with the Director of HR to provide support to the overall coordination of our people functions including recruitment benefits performance appraisals training and development compliance safety and wellness. This individual will cultivate relationships and will develop inclusive innovative compliant and effective practices. The Generalist serves as a cultural steward for the organization ensuring the best overall employment experience for staff at every level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Talent Management
- Participate in the recruitment of assigned staff
- Promote position postings using various channels
- Assist in the sourcing of applicants as needed
- Manage online applicant tracking system; screen and distribute applicant materials
- Arrange and schedule interviews
- Respond to applicant inquiries
- Promptly disposition candidates to next steps
- Assist in selection of new staff
- Partner with hiring managers to conduct initial interviews within assigned requisitions
- Offer input and observations of candidates
- Ensure consistent documentation of discussions
- Conduct onboarding processes including scheduling internal/external meetings training and ensuring new hire paperwork has been completed accurately and timely
- Manage off boarding processes for exiting employees
- Track recruitment retention and employee development metrics
Compensation and Benefits
- Administer the annual benefits enrollment process
- Understand and advise the consistent application of timekeeping and payroll rules
- Review payroll reports monitor for compliance and trends identify opportunities for training
- Work in conjunction with accounting staff to reconcile benefits and payroll statements
- Create and distribute annual total compensation statements
- Provide education to new and existing employees on available benefits and eligibility
Staff Performance Evaluation
- Coordinate the processing of staff performance evaluations and annual goal setting
- Monitor documents for compliance and timely submission
- Coach and train supervisors in developing and conducting effective reviews
- Conduct training as needed
Employee Relations
- Respond promptly and accurately to general benefit and policy inquiries
- Function as an admin super user within the companys HRIS
- Maintain and continuouslyimprove the program for staff recognition and celebration; manage associated budget
- Listen to advise and coach employees and supervisors on addressing minor issues in the workplace
- Escalate issues to leadership when applicable
- Support initiatives and offer input to optimize staff satisfaction and retention
- Chair the Employee Engagement Committee and actively participate in all available staff engagement opportunities
Training and Development
- Develop plan enhance and facilitate a best-in-class new employee orientation and onboarding experience
- Develop update and maintain training materials as needed
- Source monitor and track professional development opportunities for staff
- Develop and present annual training programs to staff (i.e. supervisor/manager training sexual harassment training safety training etc.)
Compliance and Employment Law
- Maintain knowledge of federal state and local laws
- Assist in the development of personnel policies and procedures which support the needs of the organization and promote an engaging workplace
- Maintain records including personnel files and reports in compliance with federal and state regulations
Other
- Nurture and foster an environment supportive and upholding of the organizational mission and beliefs
- Maintain neutrality objectivity and approachability with all staff
- Keeps supervisor and leadership informed through sharing of observations and suggestions
- Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions:
- Set priorities develop a work schedule monitor progress towards goals and track details/data/information/activities
- Efficiently operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook Word Excel etc.)
- Maintain files accurately in paper and in software programs
- Maintain records and prepare reports
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Plan prioritize and meet deadlines
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization
- Interact in an effective and appropriate manner with diverse populations internal staff University community and the public
- Work cooperatively and effectively with others to resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness
- Maintain confidentiality of records and information
- Display excellent judgment and decision making
- Follow through on projects with little supervision
- Identify potential problems and make recommendations
- Speak listen and write in a clear thorough and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in human resources or strongly related field
- 2 years of directly related Human Resources experience
- Previous experience recruiting hiring and onboarding staff
- Knowledge of employment laws and practices
- General understanding of total compensation
- Proficiency with technology
- Ability to manage multiple time sensitive projects and tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues co-workers and constituents
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively through various mediums to all levels
- Ability to stay on task within the context of the big picture goal
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with appropriate discretion
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years HR experience
- Previous experience working within the Paycor system or other HRIS
- Predictive Index Certification or willingness to obtain within first six months
- Professional HR certification

Regularly required to maintain a stationary position move about the office determine what others have said or written critical thinking and converse with others and exchange accurate information. Regularly required to sit stand bend reach and move about the office and within the community. May also include occasional bending stooping squatting and/or pushing and pulling or moving objects. Occasionally required to move raise reach and/or retrieve binders books boxes and files up to ten (10) pounds.
