Description

Hillis Clark Martin & Peterson P.S. (HCMP) is seeking a full-time Human Resources Director to play a key role in talent management engagement and retention. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer this position will partner with the firms management committee practice groups and administrative functions to advise on people-related matters and ensure the firms employees are properly supported in providing client service.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Quickly become a relied upon leader in the firm ready to proactively tackle opportunities to make HCMP a highly desirable place to work every day.
  • Manage the firms direct legal support staff including paralegals and legal assistants. Collaborate with legal support staff and attorneys to build and maintain effective relationships.
  • Support firm leadership by identifying issues and providing counsel related to human resource matters.
  • Develop review and recommend updated people-related policies procedures and practices.
  • Lead and organize along with others firm activities and events.
  • Stay abreast of relevant legislation and recommend actions to ensure compliance.
  • Recommend and implement plans for staff and attorney development in partnership with other firm resources.
  • Collaborate with firm leadership to continue to build and support a dynamic and inclusive work environment including the implementation and management of firmwide diversity and inclusion programs.
  • Work with individual practice team leaders on skill development for attorneys and staff with specific needs. Serve as a firmwide resource for all lawyer and staff mentoring training and development issues.
  • Monitor best practices in professional development and diversity through involvement in related organizations including national associations councils and state bars.
  • Lead the annual staff review process. Regularly gather and provide feedback and coaching to staff throughout the year.
  • Participate in compensation reviews and benefit offerings evaluations with firm management.
  • Effectively balance the role of employee advocate and confidant with obligations to the firm.
  • Lead and support firm recruiting initiatives and processes including attorney staff and law student hiring. Lead and continuously enhance the onboarding and offboarding experience.
  • Actively participate on firm committees and lead by example.
Requirements
  • At least eight years of professional services industry experience preferably in a law firm and relevant experience in human resources management.
  • Bachelors degree is required. A Masters degree is preferred. A human resources certification is a plus.
  • Strong working knowledge of HR laws and regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS platforms applicant tracking systems and learning management systems is helpful.
  • Prior experience with administering benefits programs is helpful.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and use sound judgment.
  • Impeccable writing editing proofreading presentation and overall communication skills with consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of peers attorneys staff clients and outside professionals at all levels.

The estimated salary range for this role is $00 depending on experience and qualifications with bonus-earning potential and is based on the desired experience range at the time of this posting. This position is eligible for hybrid work. We strongly encourage a minimum of one day per week worked in our office preferably Tuesdays. Business needs may necessitate different or additional in-office days beyond our policy. Our hybrid work policies are subject to change depending on firm and practice needs.
