Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Foreman to oversee daily field operations on a large commercial and civil construction project. This role is responsible for supervising crews coordinating daily work activities ensuring quality workmanship maintaining project schedules and enforcing all safety standards throughout the jobsite.

The ideal candidate will have experience leading crews on commercial and heavy civil construction projects involving site development earthwork excavation underground utilities concrete roadway construction drainage systems and infrastructure projects. This individual must be a hands-on leader capable of coordinating labor equipment subcontractors and materials while maintaining productivity and a safe work environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of laborers equipment operators pipe crews concrete crews and subcontractors.
  • Plan daily work assignments and ensure crews have the necessary manpower equipment tools and materials to meet production goals.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings civil plans specifications grade stakes and project schedules.
  • Coordinate field operations involving:
  • Site preparation and earthwork
  • Excavation and grading
  • Underground utility installation (water sewer storm drainage)
  • Concrete placement and finishing
  • Roadway and pavement construction
  • Drainage and infrastructure improvements
  • Monitor daily production and ensure work is completed according to project specifications quality standards and schedule requirements.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents Project Managers Surveyors Inspectors subcontractors and suppliers to maintain efficient project operations.
  • Conduct daily crew meetings and communicate production goals work assignments and safety expectations.
  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations company safety policies and project-specific safety requirements.
  • Monitor jobsite conditions and address field issues conflicts and production delays in a timely manner.
  • Maintain daily reports including manpower equipment usage production quantities and completed work activities.
  • Verify proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and enforce safe work practices throughout the project.
  • Assist with scheduling deliveries equipment utilization and material staging to maximize productivity.
  • Mentor and develop field employees while promoting teamwork accountability and quality workmanship.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional construction management or supervisory training is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of heavy civil or commercial construction experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience serving as a Foreman or Lead Supervisor.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and civil construction practices including:
  • Site preparation and grading
  • Excavation and trenching
  • Underground utility installation
  • Concrete construction
  • Roadway and paving operations
  • Drainage and infrastructure projects
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints specifications and construction schedules.
  • Experience supervising multiple crews while coordinating equipment subcontractors and project resources.
  • Strong leadership communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations construction safety practices and quality control procedures.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity in fast-paced construction environments.
  • Valid drivers license with reliable transportation.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience on large commercial industrial or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Experience working on high-security federal aerospace energy or industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of GPS machine control surveying or grade checking is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Construction certification preferred.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk active construction jobsites for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders navigate uneven terrain trenches and elevated work areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
  • Must be able to wear required PPE at all times while on site.


Work Environment

  • Primarily based on active commercial and heavy civil construction jobsites.
  • Exposure to heavy equipment excavation activities concrete operations utility installation roadway construction noise dust and changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • May require overtime weekend work or extended hours to meet project schedules.
