Position Summary
This position supports the work of the YMCA a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development healthy living and social responsibility. The Healthy Living Program Facilitator delivers high-quality Healthy Living Programs that maintain fidelity to curriculum promote participant engagement and contribute to measurable improvements in participant health outcomes. This role supports both the instruction of classes and the related administrative functions working in close collaboration with the Healthy Living Program Coordinator.
Essential Functions
Support the delivery of Healthy Living Programs through teaching and participant engagement following approved curriculum and protocols.
Conduct participant pre-program interviews or information sessions
Assist with the implementation of program schedules and support the coordination of special events in collaboration with the Program Coordinator
Maintain current certifications required to facilitate assigned Healthy Living Programs
Prepare support and follow up on each session to ensure high-quality program deliveryincluding session planning materials preparation participant communication and coordination with other staff or partners recognizing that effective facilitation extends beyond in-class instruction
Collect and enter participant data accurately and confidently ensuring timely documentation in program databases
Monitor participant progress and provide encouragement and support to promote ongoing engagement and goal attainment
Provide a safe welcoming and supportive environment for participants; adapt instruction to meet the varying physical and cultural needs of individuals
Assist in gathering feedback through surveys and informal participant interactions; communicate key feedback to the Program Coordinator
Respond to participant questions and provide information about programs escalating more complex inquiries to the Program Coordinator as needed
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines where applicable
Participate in technical assistance and training opportunities related to Healthy Living Programs
Contribute to the accuracy and upkeep of program materials handouts and shared digital folders
Help prepare class materials organize participant resources and ensure readiness of program spaces
Serve as a positive representative of the YMCA and its Healthy Living Programs in both internal and external settings
Complete all required trainings by established deadlines
Adhere to all YMCA policies and procedures including safety conduct and emergency protocols
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of Healthy Living Programs and overall Y mission
Minimum Qualifications
At least 1-½ years of relevant work experience instructing groups of adults
Previous experience developing positive authentic relationships with diverse populations
Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
Preferred Qualifications
Certification(s) relevant to training and supporting people on their health journey
Previous experience implementing evidence-based program models including targeting specific or underserved populations and implementing quality assurance and data collection protocols
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology body mechanics and exercise techniques
Previous experience in a health and wellness field
Previous experience working in public health
Previous experience working at a YMCA
Bilingual conversational skills (English/Spanish)

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Possess an understanding of the wants needs and interests of health seekers working to prevent or manage chronic diseases
Ability to effectively manage program data
