Health Care Innovation Operations Internship

Whats Health Care Innovation (HCI) Operations at Wellmark  The Health Care Innovation Operations team brings together diverse specialties that support initiatives across the division and enterprise. As an intern you will gain broad exposure while contributing to strategic priorities. You will build valuable skills in process improvement compliance audit legal functions data visualization intelligence research and cross-functional collaboration across multiple projects within an agile framework.

What projects might I support Some examples of the work you may be responsible for during your internship:

• Collaborate with leaders and teams on small-scale deliverables build professional relationships and gain exposure to cross-divisional work across Wellmark 
• Support HCI Intelligence research requests and help produce the monthly newsletter 
• Contribute to operational initiatives that improve systems and processes build shared understanding incorporate legislative and regulatory requirements create repeatable solutions and deliver actionable insights 
• Support emerging AI initiatives legislative changes and cross-functional priorities 
• Strengthen your health care business acumen while working in a collaborative self-directed team environment

This internship will start in May of 2027 working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines. 

Qualifications :

• Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelors degree in communication English business administration public health healthcare management or related business program.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with various business areas  
• Ability to take initiative prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Excellent research problem solving with the ability to develop proactive solutionsand presentation skills  
• Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new systems quickly 
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous internship or office experience
• Previous experience or interest in health insurance
• Practical experience using AI tools
