Job Description: Empire High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Head Cheer Coach to lead our athletic program with integrity passion and excellence. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the varsity team including training development and mentoring student-athletes while fostering a competitive and positive team culture.
- Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance player performance and team success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes emphasizing sportsmanship discipline and teamwork.
- Organize and supervise team practices conditioning programs and game strategies.
- Coordinate with assistant coaches athletic trainers and school administration.
- Promote academic achievement and ensure players adhere to eligibility requirements.
- Represent Empire High School with professionalism in the community and in interscholastic competitions.
- Ensure compliance with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules and school policies.
- Manage team logistics including scheduling equipment inventory and budget considerations.
- Engage in community outreach and fundraising efforts to support the athletic program.
- Required:
- Prior coaching experience at the high school club or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of the sports fundamentals rules and strategies.
- Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
- Required Credentials Upon Hire
- NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching
- NFHS Concussion in Sports
- First Aid/CPR Certification (current)
- NFHS Cheer and Dance Safety Certification
- Preferred:
- Bachelors degree in Education Sports Management or a related field.
- Previous experience as a varsity or assistant coach.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
- Experience with student-athlete development programs.
