About the Role:
Finance owns everything money at PitchBook accounting quote-to-cash payroll compliance budgeting forecasting and strategic analysis supporting a fast-paced growing company with actionable insights into financial health and business performance. The FP&A Manager builds improves and scales PitchBooks planning and analysis capabilities. This role partners with leaders across the business to turn data ambiguity and strategic priorities into clear decisions with a particular focus on forecasting quality resource allocation investment prioritization and operational impact.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance leader and player-coach who can strengthen core FP&A processes while also pushing the function forward through automation AI-enabled workflows and more scalable ways of delivering insights. Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Drive the annual budgeting long-range planning and rolling forecast cycles; manage timelines deliverables assumptions and cross-functional inputs to a high bar of quality
- Own and improve forecast processes across bookings revenue operating expenses headcount and key business drivers
- Run scenario planning sensitivity analyses and best/base/worst case modeling to illuminate trade-offs and inform leadership decisions
- Support monthly close and budget vs actual reviews with crisp root-cause analysis clear explanations of what changed and recommended actions
- Strengthen driver-based forecasting approaches and automate recurring forecast refreshes where feasible
- Ensure planning outputs are not just accurate but useful for decision-making
- Serve as a trusted partner to senior leaders by framing choices clarifying assumptions and connecting financial outcomes to strategy operations and business performance
- Translate incomplete noisy or ambiguous data into actionable insights that guide strategic and operational decisions
- Create clear executive-ready narratives that explain what changed why it changed what it means and what decisions leadership should consider
- Move beyond reporting results to proactively identifying risks opportunities and recommended actions
- Lead investment evaluations business cases ROI analysis and portfolio trade-off discussions across functions
- Build strong relationships with business partners while maintaining the independence and judgment required to challenge assumptions and improve decisions
- Build and maintain frameworks to evaluate headcount operating expense and investment allocation across PitchBook
- Partner with functional leaders to connect resource requests to business outcomes capacity needs productivity metrics and strategic priorities
- Support executive-level trade-off decisions by translating hiring plans productivity assumptions and investment cases into clear financial and operational impact
- Help leadership understand where PitchBook is under-resourced over-resourced or misaligned relative to strategic priorities
- Track post-investment performance to assess whether resource decisions are delivering expected outcomes
- Identify opportunities to reallocate resources toward higher-impact areas of the business
- Own and improve core SaaS and operating metrics including ARR/MRR NRR/GRR churn bookings revenue CAC/LTV productivity and other relevant business drivers
- Maintain clear metric definitions monitor trends and partner with BI and business teams to course correct when data quality or interpretation issues arise
- Define instrument and operationalize KPIs for business partners
- Build monitoring and dashboard programs that enable self-service while maintaining consistency and trust in the underlying data
- Drive data quality and single-source-of-truth standards across financial and operational datasets
- Ensure reporting is clear scalable and decision-oriented
- Identify and implement opportunities to use AI LLMs agentic workflows and automation to improve FP&A processes including forecast refreshes variance analysis management reporting scenario planning and self-service business insights
- Partner with BI Data Engineering and Finance leadership to responsibly deploy automation and AI-enabled tools while maintaining strong controls data quality and governance
- Automate and streamline recurring forecasting reporting and analysis workflows
- Improve model hygiene standardized templates process documentation and workflow orchestration
- Act as a power user and FP&A point person across planning tools BI applications and data integrations
- Identify and implement tooling enhancements that improve the speed quality and scalability of FP&A outputs
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within Finance by challenging legacy processes and finding better ways to deliver insight

Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Business Economics Engineering or related field
- 5 years of progressive experience in Finance FP&A Strategic Finance Corporate Finance or a related analytical role
- Strong experience with budgeting forecasting long-range planning monthly close support and business performance analysis
- Experience building and maintaining driver-based financial models; three-statement modeling experience preferred
- Strong resource allocation headcount planning capacity planning investment prioritization or business case experience
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and comfort working with large datasets
- Comfort with financial and operational SQL a plus
- Proven track record as a trusted partner to senior leadership with the ability to influence decisions challenge assumptions and drive projects cross-functionally to completion
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to turn complex analysis into clear concise and executive-ready narratives
- Strong business judgment and able to distinguish between analysis that is interesting and analysis that changes a decision
- Demonstrated ability to improve FP&A scale through systems automation AI/LLM-enabled workflows data visualization or process redesign
- Experience with FP&A BI CRM ERP and workflow/automation tools such as Adaptive Anaplan Tableau Power BI Salesforce NetSuite or similar platforms
- Curiosity and hands-on experience with AI/LLM tools strongly preferred
- High standards for accuracy analytical rigor communication and follow-through
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous fast-changing environments where data may be incomplete or imperfect
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

Compensation
- Annual base salary: $115000-$150000
- Target annual bonus percentage: 15%
