Please note:This fellowship is an unpaid opportunity intended to provide participants with practical experience professional growth and exposure to public service. Fellows will engage in meaningful work collaborate with experienced professionals and develop knowledge and skills applicable to future career opportunities.

This posting will be utilized to hire 2 fellows.

This role will also be fully remote with a schedule of 10-20 hours weekly and will be a 1-year fellowship.

The fellowship opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a statewide initiative exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming Washingtons economy workforce and government. As a Fellow you will conduct research and analysis that supports the development of a comprehensive AI report to inform future policy and strategic decision-making.

Based on your expertise you may analyze AIs impacts on labor markets workforce trends energy environmental and natural resources public finance and state government operations. Your work will help Washington better understand and prepare for the opportunities and challenges of AI while contributing to one of the states most innovative policy initiatives.

What youll work on:

The F&R fellow will contribute to a research project examining the economic implications of artificial intelligence as it becomes increasingly integrated into Washingtons economy. Expected functions will include:

  • Compiling and analyzing data from authoritativesources of information regarding the labor market and infrastructure and fiscal implications
  • Producing tables graphs and other data output
  • Contributing to a written report summarizing data sources methodologies and findings

What we need you to bring
  • Advanced or terminal degree preferred (e.g. PhD MPA MLIS MPH); or demonstration of equivalent training knowledge and experience in research methods and subject matter expertise
  • Demonstrated experience in applied research policy analysis or quantitative methods with subject matter expertise aligned to the proposed research project
  • Proven record of high-quality rigorous and policy-relevant research or analytical work
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary public-sector research teams across OFM units
  • Capacity to deliver research outputs within defined project timelines
  • Strong commitment to professional ethics confidentiality impartiality and public-sector data governance standards

  • Fellows: PhD or terminal degree completion preferred
