Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY
The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible for providing safe professional on- and off-ice instruction to youth and adult participants in the progressive-level Glenview Park District Skating Academy program while ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations established by Glenview Park District Learn to Skate USA and other governing bodies. The Figure Skating Instructor is responsible to perform the following essential functions including but not limited to:
- Participates in the administration and instruction of GPD Skating Academy
- Instruct with on- and off-ice classes
- Teach children and/or adults the fundamentals of ice skating
- Assist in recruitment of skaters
- Handleparent/skater/instructor concerns during off-ice time
- Assist with seasonal exhibitions
- Mentor skaters and instructors
- Attendand assistat rink competitions and/or with ice show
QUALIFICATIONS
- Qualified candidates must be at least 16 years of age with continuing education in figure skating or 3-5 years skating experience.
- Active membership in a professional association (such as PSA LTS USA or U.S. Figure Skating) is preferred along with ongoing education and certification in figure skating.
SCHEDULING & PAY
- This is a part-time year round position.
- Position requires availability Tuesday-Friday evenings and Saturday mornings.
- Must be able to attend seasonal trainings and/or staff meetings as required.
- Pay is commensurate based on prior teaching experience and skating experience and varies by class level ranging between $23-$30/hour.
