As a Field Technician II at RES youll play a key role in keeping our equipment running safely and efficiently across a variety of environmental restoration and construction projects. Youll diagnose and repair heavy equipment in the field lead equipment inspections and help train crew members on safety and maintenance protocols. This is a great role for a mid-level technician who thrives outdoors takes pride in high-quality work and is eager to build their expertise.
- Youll be in the field not stuck in a shop. Your day-to-day will include traveling to job sites diagnosing and repairing equipment in real-world conditions.
- Youll lead by example. From PPE use to maintenance procedures youll set the standard for safety and quality on the crew.
- Youll grow your technical skills. Youll work on a wide range of construction equipmenthydraulic electrical and mechanicaland stay up to date through ongoing training and certifications.
- Your work keeps projects moving. At RES we restore streams wetlands and ecosystemsand none of that can happen without reliable equipment and field-ready support.
A Day in the Life
Your day might begin with a safety meeting followed by travel to a nearby job site where a skid steer is experiencing hydraulic issues. Youll assess the equipment troubleshoot using your diagnostic tools and perform necessary repairs on-site. Later you might lead a team member through an equipment inspection checklist weld a damaged bucket or communicate an urgent repair update to your supervisor.
Throughout the day youll balance repair work with equipment monitoring preventive maintenance and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Youre not just turning wrenchesyoure a go-to leader helping your team stay productive and safe in the field.
Travel amounts will be a few overnights a couple times a month max
- Ability to lift up to50 lbsregularly.
- Capable of walking over uneven surfaces climbing on construction equipment and navigating hills.
- Comfortable working outdoors and performing tasks at ground level.
- 3 years of experience in construction equipment repair and maintenance
- Valid drivers license
- Trade school certification or manufacturer-specific repair certification
- Intermediate proficiency in diagnostic tools and interpreting system errors
- Working knowledge of equipment maintenance schedules fluids and safety protocols
What would make you stand out
- CDL (Commercial Drivers License)
- Experience in restoration civil construction or other field-based environments
- Certified Welder

Virginia Pay Range (Hourly)
$33 - $37 USD
