About the Role

Koopman Lumber is hiring an Estimator / EWP Designer to support our growing team. This role is responsible for turning plans into accurate material estimates and engineered wood layouts for residential and light commercial projects.

This is a fast-paced detail-driven position where accuracy matters. If you enjoy working with plans solving problems and being part of a team that builds real projects this is a great opportunity.

What Youll Do

Review construction plans and specs to create accurate material takeoffs
Design EWP floor and roof systems (I-joists LVLs beams rim board)
Produce layouts and placement drawings using design software
Analyze load paths and framing to ensure buildable code-compliant designs
Identify value engineering opportunities to improve cost and performance
Work closely with sales vendors and customers to keep projects moving
Resolve discrepancies and support revisions as needed

What You Bring

Experience with estimating and/or EWP design Ability to read blueprints and construction documents Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects Solid computer skills (Excel Outlook Word required) Strong communication skills with internal teams and customers

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Forte BC Calc/Framer iStruct KeyBeam/KeyPlan or similar Background in lumber building materials or construction Familiarity with IRC and local building codes Experience with BisTrack or similar systems
