Event Planner (Part-Time, On-Call)

Job Summary
Position Description
The Event Planner provides support in the staffing and execution of events and facility rentals at The Tech Interactive. Primary duties include assisting guests with hands-on learning experiences performing operational duties and acting as a backup for the Event Supervisor as needed. The role requires flexible availability primarily during evenings and weekends and will be scheduled based on the event calendar. The Events Lead and is an on-call non-exempt (hourly) role reports to the Director of Event Sales.
Responsibilities
- Attend an event briefing prior to the start of the event in order to execute all aspects of the event.
- Support coordination for load-in set-up and tear-down of events and ensure that procedures are followed and problems solved.
- Assist with end-of-event walk-through with caterers and vendors ensuring all requirements are met to leave the facility clean and free of damage and complete end-of-event report.
- Serve as one of the on-site support contacts for clients during events and maintain hands-on event support during the event.
- Assist with volunteer assignments and coordinate breaks as needed.
- Participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate with the Engineering Audio/Visual and Facilities staff to ensure that all exhibits electronics and lighting in the gallery are functioning properly.
- Attend weekly Special Events meetings and other meetings as necessary.
- Maintain current knowledge about The Techs programs IMAX films exhibits and other guest-related information.
- Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Requirements and Skills
- 1 years experience in customer service event coordination and/or execution. Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Display excellent customer service public speaking and listening skills.
- Ability to learn and utilize multiple software and cloud-based programs such as Google Suite When to Work Tripleseat and Ticketure.
Working Conditions and Schedule
- Flexible schedule that is able to match availability to event scheduling needs.
- Ability to work in a public setting interacting with visitors vendors and clients and follow required safety protocols.
- Ability to adhere to The Techs grooming guidelines and project a professional image during an event.
- Physical ability to lift and move furniture up to 50 lbs during set-up and tear-down.
