About the Role:
A growing environmental testing organization is seeking an experienced Environmental Laboratory Director to lead the development and management of a new laboratory facility in Tucson Arizona. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated leader to build and scale a laboratory operation from the ground up while playing a critical role in shaping its long-term success.
As the first employee at this new location the selected candidate will oversee all aspects of laboratory setup and operations including instrument installation method validation certification processes staffing quality systems and operational infrastructure. This role offers significant leadership responsibility strategic influence and the opportunity to build a high-performing laboratory team within an expanding organization.
The position reports directly to executive leadership and is supported by the organizations established expertise systems and resources.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily laboratory operations workflows staffing and turnaround times
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards quality systems and audit requirements
Manage budgets operational costs and financial performance metrics
Lead hiring training mentoring and development of laboratory staff
Maintain data integrity safety standards and environmental compliance
Support client relationships technical inquiries and business development efforts
Drive process improvements automation initiatives and operational efficiency
Oversee method validation SOP implementation and service expansion initiatives
Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning and laboratory growth objectives
Qualifications:
5 years of environmental testing laboratory management experience
Strong knowledge of environmental testing methods and regulatory frameworks
Proven leadership communication and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of operational management and financial practices
Ability to build and lead teams in a fast-paced and evolving environment
