Job Summary

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology Engineering is seeking an Engineering Coordinator to install repair and maintain complex radiological diagnostic imaging equipment and associated components/equipment. To create and manage safe functional sustainable and attractive solutions for products and facilities through innovative design and the efficient use of resources while meeting regulatory requirements. Develop and implement practical creative functional safe and affordable solutions to technical problems using scientific knowledge ingenuity and mathematics and engineering principles within Radiology Engineering.

Position Responsibilities

Duties Include:

Review and assess information and determine methodology to be used to complete project.

Perform short term work assignments typically within the department.

Perform complex tasks in accordance with design specs and standards.

Communicate with project team members to assure project coordination.

Review completed work to assure it meets all relevant specifications and regulations.

Communicate with customer to verify finished product meets customer expectations and industry standards.

Understand and use engineering principles and the scientific methods.

Communicate complicated engineering concepts.

Understanding of effective communication concepts tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit receive and accurately interpret ideas information and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Knowledge of and experience with designing testing and fabricating components devices and other projects.

Knowledge of approaches tools techniques for recognizing anticipating and resolving organizational operational or process problems; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to different situations.

Education Requirements

Completion of a Bachelor of Science in electronics or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Experience Requirements

Typically 1-3 years experience in electronic trouble shooting.

Knowledge of digital and analog electronics high voltage distribution systems and electro-mechanical devices.

Knowledge and experience of networking and computer operating systems is required.

A high mechanical aptitude.

Fundamental knowledge in physics including interactions between electromagnetic waves and matter.

Excellent written verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Must have valid drivers license and be able to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Management Drivers safety requirements.

Desired Qualifications

Basic working knowledge of diagnostic imaging equipment radiation detection and radioisotope principles.

Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy.

Experience in the assembly installation troubleshooting and repair of mechanical/electrical components and equipment.
