Job Description
The Electronic Technician Trainee is responsible for supporting the maintenance testing repair and timely delivery of equipment according to operational demands. This role focuses on improving maintenance efficiency reducing nonproductive time and supporting asset reliability within the Maintenance Base (MB).
The technician will work with electronic and electromechanical equipment while following maintenance programs reliability-centered maintenance practices and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform maintenance testing and repair of electronic and electromechanical equipment including rotary control units
Troubleshoot equipment using:
Multimeters
Oscilloscopes
Calipers
Basic diagnostic tools
Assemble and build components such as bearing packs
Conduct equipment testing including flow loop testing
Perform basic programming tasks
Record maintenance activities labor hours parts usage and equipment history in business systems
Support failure investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain assigned equipment according to maintenance programs and reliability standards
Work within assigned workstation areas and rotate tasks periodically
Support efforts to improve:
Equipment turnaround time
Maintenance efficiency
Productivity of Maintenance Technicians
Cost of Service Delivery (CoSD)
Participate in planned repair and reuse projects
Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
Required Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience OR
2-year technical degree in Electronics Technology OR
Military maintenance background
Required Skills
Ability to use:
Multimeters
Oscilloscopes
Basic hand tools
Measuring devices
Basic understanding of electronics
Mechanical aptitude
Strong computer and system navigation skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with rotary steerable or similar oilfield equipment
Soldering experience
ISO soldering certifications are a plus (not required)
Work Environment
Industrial shop / maintenance base environment
Exposure to:
Oil
Grease
Mud
Field-returned equipment
Not a laboratory or clean-room environment
PPE and coveralls required
