MalaceHR is seeking an experienced HVAC Technician III to support the maintenance troubleshooting repair and operation of commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems. This role is ideal for a skilled technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical issues performing preventative maintenance and ensuring building systems operate safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will also serve as a technical resource for other technicians while maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Troubleshoot repair and maintain commercial HVAC and refrigeration equipment including:
Chillers
Boilers
Air handling units
Rooftop units (RTUs)
Cooling towers
Pumps
Building automation and control systems
Perform preventative maintenance inspections testing and scheduled service to maximize equipment performance and reliability.
Diagnose mechanical electrical and controls-related issues using technical documentation schematics and diagnostic tools.
Respond to emergency service calls and quickly implement effective repairs to minimize downtime.
Maintain accurate service records maintenance logs and work documentation.
Assist with HVAC system upgrades retrofits and capital improvement projects.
Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve system efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced technicians when needed.
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with applicable safety standards codes and regulations.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Required Qualifications
Refrigerant (EPA) Certification required.
Commercial HVAC maintenance and repair experience.
Strong troubleshooting skills involving HVAC refrigeration electrical systems and controls.
Experience servicing commercial equipment such as chillers boilers RTUs air handlers and pumps.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints wiring diagrams schematics and technical manuals.
Experience performing preventative maintenance and emergency repairs.
Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in mechanical rooms at heights confined spaces and varying weather conditions.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers contractors and team members.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with commercial HVAC manufacturers such as Trane Carrier or York.
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) including Tridium Johnson Controls Siemens or Honeywell.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification.
NATE RSES or manufacturer-specific HVAC certifications.
Experience working in commercial office buildings healthcare facilities educational institutions or other large commercial environments.
