Boson Motors is building the next generation of autonomous and electric vehicles for agriculture and industrial applications. As we continue to expand our product portfolio and customer deployments we are seeking a motivated hands-on and highly skilled Electrical Technician to join our team at Madera CA.
This role will be responsible for the installation testing troubleshooting maintenance and support of electrical and electronic systems across our vehicle platforms. The ideal candidate is passionate about technology enjoys solving complex problems and is excited to work at the intersection of electric vehicles automation and robotics.
Key Responsibilities
Install and route high-voltage and low-voltage wiring harnesses in compliance with safety and quality standards.
Interpret and work from wiring diagrams schematics and engineering drawings to install or replace instrument clusters dashboards and other electronic components such as onboard computers lidar cameras etc.
Perform prototype harness builds debug issues and support design verification for custom vehicle builds.
Diagnose and troubleshoot CAN bus and OBD communications including analyzing message traffic using CAN analyzers.
Support integration of subsystems like BMS motor controllers and displays over the CAN bus network.
Understand basic Battery Management System (BMS) functions: state-of-charge monitoring thermal protection cell balancing diagnostics over CAN or OBD protocols.
Use diagnostic tools such as digital multimeters current probes oscilloscopes and logging equipment to diagnose electrical and CAN network issues.
Assist in software/firmware updates of critical control modules including BMS motor controllers and displays via OBD or proprietary interfaces.
Execute test plans provided by the engineering teams carry out troubleshooting of issues and provide comprehensive reports.
Collaborate with engineering quality and testing teams to identify and resolve electrical or system-level issues.
Train other technicians on testing troubleshooting and vehicle servicing activities.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills
Technical background (degree or vocational training) in automotive electrical or electronics engineering.
Candidates must have at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Hands-on experience in crimping soldering stripping and harness assembly including connector familiarity and quality techniques.
Fabrication of prototype test rigs and wiring subsystems.
Strong proficiency in diagnosing EV electrical systems including CAN Ethernet high-voltage systems.
Practical understanding of BMS and motor controller communication over CAN and integration of vehicle subsystems.
Use of test equipment like oscilloscopes voltmeters current probes; CANdapters experience with tools such as Vector CANalyzer or PicoScope.
Bonus (Preferred) Qualifications:
Experience with OBD-II diagnostics DTC extraction and EV-specific diagnostic protocols.
Knowledge of safety procedures and standards for EV high-voltage systems.
Certifications in harness fabrication.
Work Expectations
Receive vehicle deliveries perform initial inspections and complete pre-delivery checklists.
Diagnose and resolve vehicle issues; document findings and share reports with engineering teams.
Maintain vehicle condition including general maintenance and overall presentability.
Deliver vehicles to customers and travel to customer sites for diagnostics and repairs.
Handle transport of materials between company locations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Support other technicians and take on additional tasks as needed.
Flexibility to work or attend meetings outside normal business hours when required.

Note:Although this position is based in Madera California the selected candidate will be required to complete an initial training and orientation period of approximately two (2) to three (3) weeks at Bosons San Jose facility before reporting to Madera. Boson will cover all reasonable travel expenses associated with the training period.
