Job Summary
ABOUT THE POSITION
Design Tree is seeking an Electrical Team Leader with 10 years of experience and a strong understanding of electrical engineering design project execution team leadership and client relationships to lead our growing Electrical team. This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and benefits package based on experience and qualifications.

Over the past 20 years Design Tree has grown into a multidisciplinary engineering and surveying firm with 40 employees across three Minnesota offices. Our work focuses on the built environment ranging from public education and civic facilities to private development.
With five engineering disciplines and in-house land surveying under one roof we serve as single-source consultants across the full scope of a project. This job description defines the general expectations of the role while recognizing that responsibilities may vary based on the individuals strengths and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Quality & Standards: Own technical quality QA/QC code compliance design standards and continuous improvement for the Electrical discipline.
- Team Leadership & Development: Set clear expectations; lead coach mentor and develop team members; support hiring performance management and company leadership initiatives.
- Resource & Workload Management: Forecast workload plan staffing assign resources and coordinate capacity to meet project commitments.
- Project Performance & Coordination: Ensure discipline work meets scope schedule budget quality and profitability expectations while coordinating effectively across disciplines and project stakeholders.
- Client Relationships & Business Development: Build and maintain client relationships and support proposals interviews scope and fee development and other business development efforts.
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering with 10 years of experience and 3 years of formal team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain Minnesota licensure.
- Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes standards and engineering practices.
- Current knowledge of electrical design technologies tools practices and industry trends.
- Demonstrated leadership delegation mentoring and staff development skills.
- Strong project planning prioritization and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing demands.
- Strong written verbal and client-facing communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Experience leading multidiscipline engineering projects and coordinating across design disciplines.
- Experience supporting business development proposals interviews and client relationship development.
- Experience with staffing workload forecasting project budgets and schedules.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering with 10 years of experience and 3 years of formal team leadership or supervisory experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE
- Full-time position with some flexibility in work schedule.
- Availability generally expected during core business hours of 8:00 a.m.5:00 p.m. CST.
- Occasional evening weekend or travel may be required based on project and client needs.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- The expected salary range for this position is $175000-$200000 based on applicants education experience or other related considerations.
