Construction Work Plan Project Engineer

Cherryland Electric Cooperative Grawn Michigan

Cherryland Electric Cooperative is seeking a Construction Work Plan Project Engineer to help design plan and support the future of our electric distribution system serving nearly 40000 members across Northern Michigan.

This role blends engineering field coordination long-range planning and project execution in an environment where no two days look exactly the same. From system improvement projects and line extensions to contractor coordination and field staking this position plays a direct role in supporting reliable electric service for the communities we serve.

Were looking for someone who is technically capable adaptable collaborative and comfortable balancing office responsibilities with field-based work. The right candidate communicates well with crews contractors landowners and members - and understands that utility work is ultimately about people just as much as infrastructure. As mentioned this position includes both office and field-based work including outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions. Occasional evening or extended hours may be required during periods of high workload or storm response.

What Youll Do (Generalized - please see full job description for details)

  • Plan design and support construction work plan and system improvement projects
  • Perform engineering design field staking and project coordination activities
  • Prepare project documentation including staking sheets material lists bid packages and cost estimates
  • Coordinate with contractors field personnel and internal departments to support successful project execution
  • Assist with long-range system planning and infrastructure improvement efforts
  • Support overhead and underground distribution line projects
  • Work with landowners and members regarding project timelines access needs and right-of-way considerations
  • Maintain project records budgets and status reporting
  • Help support a safe reliable and member-focused electric system

What Were Looking For

  • Degree certification or licensure in engineering or surveying (associate degree acceptable; bachelors degree preferred)
  • Utility engineering surveying construction or infrastructure project experience
  • Familiarity with electric distribution systems staking construction practices or right-of-way coordination preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record
