Job Summary

The Director of Professional Learning serves as a strategic leader responsible for championing a vision of excellence in educator development across KIPP Texas. By leading the high-quality design and execution of professional learningfrom teacher onboarding to multi-tiered developmentthe Director ensures a cohesive year-long strategy aligned with adult learning principles and core academic goals. This role thrives on cross-departmental collaboration managing internal partnerships to operationalize high quality professional learning execution at scale. Beyond strategy and design the Director is a dedicated team leader who monitors rigorous success metrics to track outcomes and mastery for the purpose of impactful teacher development.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Oversee the preparation execution and in-field follow up of professional learning aligned to the KIPP Texas Academic Strategy setting vision for teacher Summer and in-year Professional Learning; coordinating multi-tiered professional learning for teachers grounded in instruction pedagogy and content.

  • Lead the design and facilitation of session content grounded in instruction pedagogy and content; coordinate with other functional teams on session design to ensure high-quality content aligned to adult learning principles.

  • Lead the logistics planning for professional learning to ensure that the focus for participants is on content mastery.

  • Set vision on and tracking success metrics  to support with progress of PL session execution and mastery of content

  • Manage key partnership relationships with internal partners in service of executing a clear comprehensive Professional Learning strategy aligned to the KIPP Texas Academic Priorities.

  • As needed build a results-driven mission-oriented team culture for any direct reports through establishing a clear vision for success; hire build develop and retain strong performers; demonstrate clear concise direction feedback and coaching; hold direct reports accountable for meeting targets and adjusting course as necessary in pursuit of goals.

  • serve as a key leader on the greater Professional Learning team; collaborate with team leaders to enhance state-wide strategy and evolve in service of the pursuit of transforming student results.

  • Provide exemplary support to clients including SSP leaders school management teams and Assistant Principals/Principals in service of instruction pedagogy and content development on campuses.    

  • Serves as an organizational leader on academic strategy providing insight and expertise to strategic planning as well as organizational values-driven initiatives and plans.

  • Operate with exemplary team spirit with eagerness to demonstrate flexibility and contribute to the overall needs of the team as they arise.


Qualifications :

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree required

  • 2 years of teaching pk-12 with a strong record of results 2 years designing and facilitating adult training 2 years in roles involving instructional coaching required 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading through change executing on major initiatives and leading cross-departmental work

  • Demonstrated excellence in designing professional learning

  • Demonstrated orientation to streamlining cross-departmental needs in service of end-use experience

  • Demonstrated excellence in professional learning design and project management

  • Demonstrated achievement in partnership development including an ability to mobilize people and create champions to support an organizational mission

  •

  • Impact and influence: Ability to impact and influence stakeholders to action based on compelling recommendations based in data

  • Continuous learning: Investing in one self to continually learn and make impactful growth in focus areas.

  • Systems thinking and change management: Ability to develop problem statements analyze data and provide recommendations at a systems level that designs talent development systems to appropriate scale and helps stakeholders navigate through change and evolutions

  • Evidence of developing and executing against a strategy with strong results

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Work with frequent interruptions.

Work Environment: 

Hybrid work - Reports to the central office or schools three days a week

Travel Requirements: 

May travel to other school sites or regional offices for professional learning meetings and other work related activities.
