Job Summary

Title:Director of Internship Programs

Position Purpose:

The Director of Internship Programs provides leadership direction and oversight for the Purposeful Work summer internship program. The Director oversees all aspects of marketing the program to students with special attention paid to first-generation and low-income addition the Director manages the application and selection process and works with campus colleagues to disseminate funds that provide students who find a low or unpaid internship up to $5000 for the summer.

Job Duties:

  • Build and maintain strong alignment between summer internship opportunities and student interest through data analysis and relationship development with alumni parents and employers.
  • Collaborate with Advancement staff and other campus partners to identify cultivate and steward potential internship hosts.
  • Lead outreach to students through multiple channels to ensure robust participation particularly from underrepresented groups through a partnership with the Student Center for Belonging and Community (SCBC) as well as other on- and off-campus groups organizations and stakeholders.
  • Respond to intern needs with special attention to housing food and transportation.
  • Oversee and coordinate members of the funding selection committee to award competitive summer funding to students ensuring a transparent process consistent use of selection criteria and efficient communication to students.
  • Create update and facilitate goal-setting reflection and skill articulation workshops surveys and online forums for student participants.
  • Schedule student campus-wide presentations in the fall.
  • Ensure donor letters are written and delivered to Advancement colleagues.
  • Conduct program evaluation identifying and implementing ongoing improvements in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Research Analysis & Planning.
  • Serve as liaison to the Harward Center for Community Partnerships the Dean of Facultys office the Office of Equity and Inclusion and other stakeholders across campus to coordinate and maximize students access to Bates summer grant programs in a coordinated manner.
  • Manage internship logistics and operations including internship and event marketing as well as participant eligibility tracking.
  • Responsible for all employer and student communication regarding program requirements.
  • Manage annual budget and fellowship payments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree preferred in fields such as Student Affairs/Higher Education Counseling or Education

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years experience working in an educational setting preferably in an advising counseling or teaching role with college students.
  • Fundraising and/or budgeting experiences will be prioritized.
  • Candidates should have strong project management experience and a quantifiable attention to detail.
