Job Summary
This is a fully remote position. The candidate must reside in California Washington Oregon Montana Idaho Wyoming Nevada Utah or Colorado*
Reporting to the Sr. Director the Director is responsible for securing and growing major and planned gifts in support of the ALS Associations strategic priorities and mission. The Director will build philanthropic partnerships with individuals and foundations to secure planned gifts and outright gifts at the $5000 - $25000 level through an active portfolio of 125-150 supporters. Utilizing relationship management strategies this position will identify qualify cultivate solicit and steward supporters to growing revenue and build a pipeline of major and planned gift donors for sustainable revenue.
Additionally this position works as a partner to other Development staff to secure major and planned gifts from donors in their portfolios. This includes assisting these partners with strategy development cultivation and stewardship planning and execution and providing support in all aspects of the execution of those strategies in order to solicit and secure support. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic professional with strong relationship management and communication skills committed to fundraising for positive change.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Donor Development
- Identify and engage donors and foundation partners
- Utilize moves management to build intentional relationships and thoughtful strategic plans for each supporter
- Provide engagement and funding opportunities that align with donors values and interests
- Secure gifts through active solicitation
- Provide prompt personal and ongoing stewardship
- Maintain contact records in Salesforce and update benchmarking reports
- Collaborate with Sr Director on fundraising strategies and goals
- Meet and exceed planned gift commitment goals (approximately 35-40) for the Great West Midwest and Southwest Territories by securing gift commitments and charitable gift annuities from supporters both directly and through Development partners
- Meet and exceed major gift revenue goals (approximately $500000 annually with slight variations depending on portfolio) by closing strategic gifts from supporters both directly and through field Development partners
- Work both independently and collaboratively to cultivate relationships with field Development partners donors volunteers and the ALS community
- Maintain an attitude of abundance persistence and urgency
- Work with gratitude and relentless optimism to actively contribute to a culture of philanthropy

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional major gift fundraising experience
- Minimum of 3 years of professional planned giving experience including discussing and closing gifts of bequests beneficiary designations and charitable gift annuities
- Ability to travel up to 30%
- A self-starter with outstanding communication skills
- Experience in successfully engaging with a diverse staff and range of donors volunteers and community members
- Collaboration skills required to partner with field Development colleagues involved in the achievement of Territory revenue goals
- Excellent communication presentation and analytical skills

PAY TRANSPARENCY:
The ALS Associations pay range for this position is$115000 - $123498 annually.
The ALS Association has compensation ranges for various work locations throughout the United States allowing us to compensate employees competitively and consistently in diverse geographic markets. The above-listed listed range shows prospective compensation for this role; the appropriate range will be established by what is eventually determined to be the candidates primary work location. Various factors including the complexity and significance of the role job duties/requirements relevant experience and abilities and primary work location determine individual compensation. Compensation ranges are evaluated and typically adjusted on a regular basis. Offers are made within the compensation range that is in effect at the time of the job offer.
The Association may at its discretion offer merit-based increases tied to individual performance. The benefits listed may differ depending on employment status with the Association.
