The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides one-on-one support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community. DSPs help individuals build independent living skills achieve personal goals and participate fully in their communities.

This is a client specific role supporting an individual and their family in Santee. The client requires an able-bodied individual who can lift 50 pounds to support them with mobility in and around the home and community. The client requires 1:1 monitoring at all times including while showering and using the bathroom. Staff must be comfortable with personal the community you will support the client at their fitness classes and personal training. The client and family are very sweet and need a staff who is reliable trustworthy and caring. This role has the ability to work to a full time position.

• Provide person-centered support aligned with each individuals Individual Program Plan (IPP)

• Assist with independent living skills

• Support community participation including social activities appointments recreation and volunteering

• Be able to assist the client with mobility in the home and in the community including pushing a wheelchair in the community

• Assist with personal care as authorized (hygiene grooming mobility support)

• Follow behavior support and safety plans

• Accurately complete daily documentation goal tracking notes and incident reports

• Communicate professionally with supervisors family and team members

• Maintain confidentiality and uphold client rights at all times

• Be able to transport the client and folding wheelchair

Minimum Requirements:

• 18 years of age or older

• 1 Years of experience as a DSP caregiver behavioral aide or in-home support provider

• High school diploma or GED

• Ability to passbackground clearance

• Valid California drivers license reliable transportation and proof of insurance (driving is required)

• Ability to use a smartphone or tablet for documentation

• Reliable punctual and professional

Preferred:

• Experience as a DSP caregiver behavioral aide or in-home support provider

• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities

• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

• Bilingual a plus

• $21.00 $25.00 per hour (based on experience)
