This is an at-will non-contract position on a 12-month basis. Salaries are determined by means of a board adopted 31 step pay scale. You may access the Manual Trades pay scale on our website at Covington ISD under Support Staff Applicants.JOB DESCRIPTIONThis document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.Custodial Primary Purpose: Clean and maintain district facilities using routine procedures to maintain a high standard of safety cleanliness and efficiency of building operations and grounds.General Maintenance Primary Purpose: Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and their mechanical electrical and sanitary systems throughout district. Assist with maintenance of grounds.Qualifications: Education/Certification: Clear and Valid Texas Driver licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills: Ability to follow verbal and written to read and understand instructions for cleaning maintenance and safety proceduresAbility to operate cleaning equipment and lift heavy equipmentKnowledge of basic construction repair procedures and techniques and routine maintenance of buildings and grounds maintenanceAbility to operate hand and power toolsAbility to properly handle cleaning suppliesAbility to communicate effectively (verbally)Ability to work independentlyExperience: One year experience in general building maintenanceMajor Responsibilities and Duties: Cleaning a cleaning schedule that will include cleaning of floors chalkboards wastebaskets windows furniture equipment and school building and grounds including sidewalks driveways parking lots and play areas neat and with local laws and procedures for storage and disposal of in maintaining an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and request additional supplies as with lunchroom set up including arranging tables and preventive maintenance to ensure the comfort health and safety of students and staff. Make minor building repairs as needed and report major repair needs to in setting up facilities for special events.Maintenance and Repair and maintenance of district facilities including repairing woodwork; replacing electrical switches fixtures and motors; painting repairing and replacing plumbing fixtures and drainage systems; and replacing broken building exterior and interior playground equipment and grounds; perform maintenance and minor and report needed major repairs on building structures and their systems including lockers furniture and repairs as directed on work orders or by maintenance in maintenance and repairs of all district with mowing and detailing of district heat ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide appropriate temperatures and ensure economical usage of fuel water and install assemble and repair all school furniture and playground equipment as with lunchroom set up including arranging tables and in setting up facilities for special events.Safety with opening and closing building each school day checking to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy. Follow established procedures for locking checking and safeguarding tools machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
