CPC Research Dissemination Director

Position Summary
Since 1966 researchers at the Carolina Population Center ( CPC ) have pioneered data collection and research techniques that move population science forward by emphasizing life course approaches longitudinal surveys the integration of biological measurement into social surveys and attention to context and environment. CPC is also at the forefront of creating interdisciplinary training programs that integrate approaches from the social and biological sciences building research capacity and training the next generation of scholars. CPC faculty fellows address pressing research questions about population dynamics fertility health mortality migration and the environment. CPC Faculty Fellows come from multiple disciplines benefiting from the cross-pollination of ideas. Our dedicated research and programming staff support fellows at every stage of project development from conception through data collection or acquisition analysis and dissemination and project administration. The CPC Research Dissemination Director will be responsible for translation and dissemination of CPC faculty research to a wide range of audiences. This position will provide dedicated research dissemination support to Carolina Demography an applied demography unit that works with local and state agencies to help them better understand the implications of demographic change across North Carolina and to the Centers Population Center (P30) and the Aging Center (P2C) Infrastructure grants. The CPC Research Dissemination Director is funded through grant and contract funds from outside of the University. CPC research focuses on cutting-edge population research across multiple disciplines with research areas including mobility and well-being reproduction and fertility population health across the life course aging in different contexts and health and social and economic productivity. The position is expected to collaborate with CPC Faculty Fellows and project staff to independently write and co-author original materials (technical reports and briefs research syntheses and summaries feature/news articles web pages presentations and/or videos) and develop strategies for research dissemination across a variety of channels for multiple sponsored research projects. This position will substantially rework documents written by others to improve organization coherence clarity accuracy and ensure effective messaging in order to encourage the use of research findings and use of research data by a variety of US and international audiences. The CPC Research Dissemination Director will provide technical assistance to research faculty staff and students around content development and catering products to specific audiences and will be responsible for meeting deliverables around research dissemination across the supported projects. This position will juggle competing demands and make independent decisions about how to best meet project priorities. This position will participate in CPC management and research team meetings and understand and implement project targets and contractual requirements regarding production of deliverables.

Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Excellent organizational skills attention to detail strong interpersonal skills ability to work well under pressure and to handle multiple tasks effectively prioritize and set and achieve goals required. Demonstrated outstanding high-level substantive research writing and editing skills including attention to detail accuracy and tone of writing. Ability to independently develop and edit content for disseminating research results to various audiences and tailor content to specific audiences. Ability to work independently track research outputs and proactively reach out to faculty in order to develop new research products and highlight research outcomes across the 80 CPC Faculty Fellows. Advanced knowledge of MS Word and experience with graphics and desk-top publishing software required. Experience in publication design and graphic design. Thorough understanding of social science research. Prior experience in research dissemination within an educational organization and experience interpreting and writing about population or social science research.

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Experience in data visualization and social media management. Experience collating data for and writing research progress reports and funding proposals.
