Youll be joining our Carta Law team specifically within the Contracts team - Americas function.
Our Contracts team manages the full lifecycle of commercial contracts for clients from first review through to execution. Youll be the direct day-to-day contact for sophisticated investment fund and asset manager clients working alongside fellow lawyers and paralegals. This team delivers high volumes of pre-M&A contract work at speed supported by AI-backed tools including Cartas proprietary platform Ava.

- Negotiate and manage high volumes of pre-M&A contracts including NDAs confidentiality agreements NRLs joinders and engagement letters directly liaising with counterparties and adhering to agreed turnaround times
- Serve as the primary day-to-day contact for clients building trusted advisor relationships with sophisticated investment funds and asset managers
- Maintain and update client playbooks on an ongoing basis ensuring consistency and quality across all contract negotiations
- Collaborate with and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals reviewing their work and contributing to a high-performing team culture
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Cartas legal technology suite identifying ways to innovate using AI-backed tools
We are looking for someone who is:
- Commercially minded and client-focused. You communicate legal advice crisply and concisely building strong relationships with sophisticated financial services clients.
- Experienced in transactional law. You have 6-8 years of post law school corporate or transactional experience with a track record of independently negotiating pre-M&A contracts (NDAs NRLs joinders engagement letters).
- Familiar with financial services. You have experience working with asset managers investment banks or other financial services firms and understand their expectations.
- Law Degree and licensed to practice. You are licensed to practice law in the Americas (US/Canada).
- Tech-savvy and adaptable. You are comfortable working with and evolving a legal technology suite (e.g. AI tools HighQ) and an interest in legal tech or AI is a strong plus.
- A self-starter who owns their work. You thrive in a fast-paced environment prioritize effectively and are always looking for ways to improve and innovate.
Cartas compensation package includes a market competitive salary equity for all full time roles exceptional benefits and for applicable roles commissions plans. Our expected cash compensation (salary commission if applicable) range for this role is:
- $149600 - $187000 in Denver CO
- $167200 - $209000 in Seattle
We are hiring for multiple levels and locations so final offers may vary from the amounts listed based on geography experience and expertise and other factors. Please note this is a full time role.
